| Overclockers HQ Editors Choice | Overclockers HQ | “As seen during the testing the Cryo more than holds its own. If you have a large gaming laptop this laptop cooler is a great choice. One thing I noticed when using the Cryo LX is the rubber pad at the bottom also double as a soft rest for your wrists when typing if you are using a smaller sized laptop. I love the performance and style of this cooler it looks very beefy and the overall design was very well thought out.” | 2009-08-25 |
| 4/5 | Dragon Steel Mods | As with the other NZXT products I had the chance to review, the Cryo LX is well designed and crafted. It provides excellent cooling via its aluminum frame and three 120mm fans. It is comfortable to work on and ones laptop sits securely on top of the cooler’s surface.. | 2009-07-14 |
| Destructoid | As for the machine's main selling point, does it keep my computer cool? Yes, yes it does. The underside is now colder than Billy Mays, and it really helps to keep the laptop running smoothly. Whereas before, I could fry an egg on the underside of my laptop, things are kept nice and breezy and the computer is more able to handle the billion things I'm putting it through a day. | 2009-07-06 | |
| 8/10 | Test Freaks | The Cryo LX is, undoubtedly. A very well made notebook cooler. It features three quiet fans to keep your laptop cool, along with a built-in USB hub for added usability. | 2009-05-23 |
| Overclockers | The Cryo LX is a very solidly built and very attractive product. It even boosts cooling performance by a measureable amount while its fans provide more airflow than most other laptop coolers on the market. Unfortunately the jury is out on whether the included fans are really beneficial; it definitely depends on what type of laptop you happen to use. | 2009-01-29 | |
| Modders-Inc's Must Have | Modders-Inc.com | I had my doubts at first, but the NZXT Cryo LX has proven to be one of the best notebook coolers out there and does indeed seem to live up to it's boast, of being the Worlds Largest All Aluminum Notebook Cooler. If you have one of those large high powered gaming notebooks (like Dell XPS or Alienware etc), then you just might want to give the NZXT Cryo LX a try for added cooling. Personally, if I were fortunate enough to own one of those nice gaming notebooks, I would not hesitate to add the NZXT Cryo LX to it for additional cooling. My final conclusion ... The NZXT Cryo LX ROCKZ! | 2008-11-05 |
| Recommended R&B | Rbmods.com | The NZXT Cryo LX cooler is a simple yet effective notebook cooler that gets the job done. It’s definitely a large/heavy cooler, but it’s made to accommodate 19” laptops with ease. The USB ports and fan speed adjustments are handy features, and the rubber pads and feet give the cooler a sturdy and comfortable feel. But perhaps most importantly, this cooler delivers a ton of airflow thanks to the three 120mm fans. If you’re looking for a notebook cooler that actually cools, you should consider this NZXT offering. | 2008-11-03 |
| 8.5/10 | I4U News | The Cryo LX is very attractive; the test unit I received was the black version. The silver version contrasts well with the black slip-resistant inserts and would look good with a MacBook Pro. Users wanting low-key will want to go with the black version. The Cryo LX is a great stand for users of larger notebooks that run hot. The notebook gamer is probably the ideal user for the Cryo LX. If you intend to use the stand mostly at home, the Cryo LX is worth a serious look. | 2008-09-18 |
| 8.6/10 | BCC Hardware.com | The NZXT Cryo LX does exactly what it's supposed to do - cool down your laptop. Even with a well-designed T61 Thinkpad, the Cryo LX helps shave off some degrees and keeps the notebook nice and cool - even when running full load. The laptop is kept in place thanks to the "grippy" rubber details on the top, and the adjustable fan speed is certainly nice. The inclusion of a 4-port USB2.0 hub is also a nice touch. The big question remains, "Is the NZXT Cryo LX worth $70?" That's something that you'll have to decide for yourself, but the quality construction, thick aluminum, and three 120mm fans don't make this cheap - or inexpensive for that matter. | 2008-09-15 |
| 10/10 | ThinkComputers.Org | Knowing NZXT as mainly a maker of cases and power supplies I wondered how well the Cryo LX would perform. After seeing the quality they put into it and the performance I am impressed. Not many companies use aluminum in notebook coolers, I am glad to see the NZXT did. Aluminum is less likely to break and it is much better for cooling than cheap plastic. Not only did NZXT make the Cryo LX out of aluminum they gave it power with 3 huge 120mm fans that take care of the cooling.I am really impressed with the Cryo LX, it is good to see a company put time and quality into a notebook cooler. You can find the Cryo LX online for around $59.99, which is about right since that is what you would pay for a good CPU cooler. Overall ThinkComputers gives the NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award! | 2008-05-12 |

With its heavy-duty, solid aluminum frame and three variable RPM 120mm cooling fans, NZXT has designed a superb product that is both versatile and capable of cooling your notebook computer. During our time with the product, we found the Cryo LX to comfortably accommodate and support laptops up to 17" in size with room to spare. With four externally powered USB ports and the ability to fold itself into a more easily transportable form, the Cryo LX is one of the best engineered and designed notebook coolers on the market today. We feel that NZXT, famous for its forward thinking and vision in creating quality computing products, has a real winner in the Cryo LX. With features galore and a pioneering design sure to woo even the most jaded enthusiast, the Cryo LX is our top pick for a notebook cooling solution, and thus earns our coveted Great Innovation award. | 2008-03-24 |
| 5 Star Recommended | FutureLooks.com | NZXT has done a terrific job with the Cryo LX. I love the thick aluminum construction and the trio of fans with speed control. The four-port USB hub is an added bonus as most coolers simply rob you of an extra port, while the cooling performance is reasonably good. In the end, the NZXT Cryo LX notebook cooler comes well recommended for any power users looking for an effective cooling solution for their notebooks. | 2008-03-24 |
| Tech Knowledge Arena | A notebook cooler will not be required for the average notebook. But definitely anyone using a high-end gaming or desktop replacement unit with a high end GPU and CPU should assess the temperatures that their hardware is running at and think about whether they need to invest in a cooler. CPUID's HWMonitir tool is easy to use and free. Hardware that is pushed close to its max definitely has a much shorter life span. Running components at high temperatures not only has the potential to damage those components, but also components around them as well which are not designed to run at extreme temperatures. Most notebooks only have a short life span as it is. If you've invested good money into a high end notebook, taking the extra step of getting a notebook cooler could see your investment go a lot further. The NZXT Cryo LX is a must have cooler for any enthusiast notebook user. | 2008-02-28 | |
| 3/5 | Associated Content | The NZXT Cryo LX looks like a mean cooler for notebooks and will fit all sizes even the big 19" widescreens. I am not sure how larger widescreens will fair on it but as long as the feet of the widescreen notebook is not wider than the 16.6 inches width of the cooler they should be just fine. Another bit of a problem here is the cost of this heavy duty cooler at about $70 according to other reviewers; I couldn't find where to purchase it though. The NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler is a nice heavy duty notebook cooler that will definitely last a long time due to the durable aluminum design. I recommend the NZXT Cryo LX as a good large notebook cooler, if you can find one. | 2008-02-18 |
| 84/100 | Jeffs Review | The NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler is a nice heavy duty notebook cooler that will definitely last a long time due to the durable aluminum design. I recommend the NZXT Cryo LX as a good large notebook cooler, if you can find one. | 2008-02-18 |
| OCIA Seal Of Approval | OCIA.Net | The NZXT Cryo LX is a heavy-duty, high-performance notebook cooler. As NZXT is all about gamers, they mainly intend it for someone that uses a notebook for gaming. The Cryo LX does its job quite well. It moves a serious amount of air, actually cooling the notebook case rather than just blowing air towards the notebook's vents. Included is a 4-port USB hub, for those that don't have enough ports for USB devices and an on-board fan controller. | 2008-02-06 |
| 8.75 / 10 | Benchmark Reviews | The NZXT Cryo LX Aluminum Notebook Cooler arrived in a very attractive package. It set the standards just a bit higher because who doesn't judge a book by its cover. When I removed the NZXT Cryo LX Aluminum Notebook Cooler from the box I was surprised at the weight of the cooler. It is solid aluminum so it is heavy. It is extremely well put together and has ample rubberised grips to protect your laptop. The fans are well placed and there is ample airflow. | 2008-02-05 |
| 9/10 | Phoronix | It is not often that we review notebook coolers at Phoronix, but testing out the NZXT Cryo LX was certainly time well spent. The Cryo LX is very durable, quite large to accommodate all sizes of notebooks, has adjustable fan speed support, and it did a great job at cooling our tested Lenovo notebook. What is there to not like about this notebook cooler? Well, not allowing the fan speed dial to turn the three fans completely off is a bit disappointing. The NZXT Cryo LX is also fairly expensive where at stores like Xoxide.com it retails for $70 USD. If though you are in need of a heavy-duty notebook cooler that can effectively cooler your notebook, we would highly recommend you look at the NZXT Cryo LX. | 2008-02-05 |
| 8/10 | Unique Rigs | We can say for sure that NZXT always brings its "A" game when it comes to designs. Their PC cases are designed uniquely which sets them apart from other manufacturers. The designs of the Cryo are uniquely NZXT. From the layout, functionality and cooling prowess, the Cryo LX is a must have if you have a laptop that is a desktop replacement. | 2008-01-31 |
| Big Bruin Recommanded | Big Bruin | The bottom line on the NZXT Cryo LX Notebook Cooler is that it is a very well made product that could serve an important role for some notebook computers. If you have a larger notebook that generally serves as a desktop replacement and gets worked pretty hard playing games, I would have no problem recommending the Cryo LX, if the price was right. While it may deserve an award for being built like a tank or being the most extreme notebook cooler I have used, we don't have any awards like that! But, the quality, performance, and convenience do help it to earn the Bigbruin.com "Recommended" award. | 2008-01-30 |
| 7.5/10 | APH Networks\ | The NZXT does its job well - cooling the laptop - and looks beautiful while doing it - what more could you ask for? Its got a great design with excellent functionality, and it's large enough to accommodate the majority of mainstream laptops. It cools the laptop well during usage. Its got four USB ports that actually work. Rubber feet that are actually a great touch, as it protects the excellently finished NZXT Cryo LX from the possible scratches of the desk, as well as retaining its position on the desk that it's been placed on. And the fan speeds are adjustable, for goodness' sakes! If you choose to use it as a laptop dock while your laptop is plugged into an outlet, I think this would be a great product to try. | 2008-01-29 |
| Dreamware Computers Recommended | Dreamware Computers | This is one solid and well built cooling pad with three quiet 120mm fans doing an excellent job of shedding a few extra degrees off my laptop when being tested. The built in USB hub is also a plus and can be used to help intigrate the Cryo as a desktop dock eliminating the need to unplug many separate USB cables from your laptop when it's time to pack up and go. It's size is also made slightly easier to transport by the ability to fold the front half under. If you're looking for the ultimate laptop cooling solution, I think NZXT may just have a solid contender for you to look at! | 2008-01-25 |
