But priced at a lofty $139, do you want or need it in your system? Hell yes, especially when you factor in the Hale82's five-year warranty and three-day hardware turnaround guarantee. Considering all of these premium features, it's actually a small price to pay.

Overall, the NZXT Hale82 850 Watt PSU is a winner. Performance was very strong with little voltage fluctuation on any of the rails, even when pushed 60 watts over its rating to 910 watts. Of course, the unit should not be expected to run at that wattage for maintained periods, but it is good to know it gives you ample headroom for peaks. Build of the Hale82 is excellent and cabling is extremely well thought out. Cable routing was very easy with the Hale82. The Hale82 has protection for any possible scenario (over/under voltage, temps, short circuit, power) to help keep it, and the rest of your build, safe. All around, the NZXT Hale82 850 Watt PSU is a strong performer and comes highly recommended.

The Hale82 is everything that a gamer could want in a power supply.  The single 12v rail consistently and reliably delivers the power you need, while the construction makes it easy to install and easy to cable manage.  Available in 650, 750, and 850 watt versions and significantly cheaper than the NZXT Hale90 PSUs, the Hale82 is the perfect product for NZXT to carve out an even bigger slice of the market.

The bottom line: excellent performance at a great price are combined with a spectacular warranty to make the NZXT HALE82 a spectacular power supply.

The Hale82 power supply performs very well. Naturally, the power usage will be slightly higher than the 80Plus Gold-rated HALE90 power supply. There really isn’t anything to complain about here.

NZXT HALE 82 850W would both serve high-end systems well and offer plenty of power for all but the most extreme, overclocked, multi-GPU systems.NZXT Will Replace Your HALE 82 PSU Within 3-Days Should It Fail

Both units [750w and 850w HALE82] have solid features and deliver very good performance, coming in a slealthy black exterior that’s highighted nicely by the white fan. They bring a refreshing simplicity and minimalist design to a market that’s awash in brash designs that seem to convey the mistaken notion that LEDs and flashy lights somehow make for a better power supply.

The NZXT Hale82 750 Watt Power Supply is one that I would be happy to have in my computer for the long term. The power supply is quiet and it offers a good amount of power for even the most demanding systems and the people that build them. The Hale82 is a modular power supply which means you won’t have wires everywhere as you’ll only use what you really need. This means a cleaner case and less wires usually means better airflow as well.

Styling and performance are above board, but what about price? The Hale82 750W model retails for about $110, while the 850W is about $140. These certainly aren't the cheapest prices, but we wouldn't expect that for a Seasonic design; you get what you pay for. Considering the very reasonable pricing and excellent performance, we think the NZXT Hale82 power supplies are great choices for consumers in the mid-range market.

The NZXT HALE82 750W & 850W Power Supplies perform very well, have a quiet 120mm fan, are affordable, reliable and come with a 5 year warranty. To make the best of it the HALE82 series of PSUs have a modular design with flat flexable modular leads. It's hard to go wrong!

The HALE82 is efficient 80 Plus Bronze, modular cables are ribbon cables which are easy to hide, long 8pin (4+4) motherboard power cable, good voltage regulation at different loads, main +12 volt rail ripple is solid and delivery consistant, quiet fan at lower to mid loads, well packaged, good style and looks.

The NZXT Hale82 850W Power Supply performed admirably throughout our testing thanks in part to the very capable Seasonic design. Ripple suppression is also noteworthy, particularly from the +12V output, which peaked at 35mV when at full load. The use of high grade Nippon Chemi Con 105c rated capacitors throughout will be sure to aid with long term stability, especially in less than perfect thermal conditions.

Once i opened the unit and learned that Seasonic was the manufacturing company i knew that the HALE82 units would produce solid results and after finishing all of the tests that is exactly what happened. Overall we liked the NZXT unit quite a lot and that’s why it leaves with our Editors Real Choice Award.

CRN:

The most prominent characteristic of the HALE82-series power supply unit is the 120-mm fan dominating its top panel. The whisper-quiet, two-bearing blower draws air down into the PSU and exhausts it out the back of the CPU. A super-efficient power supply should be on every serious gamer's shopping list this Christmas, and the CRN Test Center recommends the HALE82 series from NZXT.

Hardware Secrets:

The new NZXT HALE82 850 W is a very good unit, with efficiency between 82% and 86.5%, voltages closer to their nominal values than necessary (three percent voltage regulation, except the +3.3 V output at full load), and extremely low noise and ripple levels. The cable configuration is good for an 850 W unit.

Overclockers.com:

The bottom line is that this is a very good unit, and I won’t hesitate to give it an approved stamp!

Tech Power Up:
2011-11-25 | Web Link
To sum up, I think that NZXT will make a strong entry in the midrange category with this series, competing mainly with the corresponding Corsair offers (TX M series). If you don't have a problem with the loud fan, at least at high loads and you need a high quality PSU with decent price then HALE82 series should be included in your buy list.
