It’s nice to see that NZXT is trying to get in the market for PSUs rather than their typical case products. They started out their PSU entrance with a bang of high efficiency power supplies, which is why ThinkComputers would like to award the NZXT HALE82 750W Power Supply a 9 out of 10 score.
Hale82 PSU which as we noted is a Seasonic design. Past experience tells us that this means a very high quality device and the NZXT version was no different. Quality hardware such as Japanese 105°C capacitors were used throughout, the minimal amount of native wiring was present and to match cases like the switch 810 the unit even has an extended 8pin wire. Thermal and noise performance was decent, voltages strong from the 750w model and efficiency was in line with the bronze certification which this PSU carries. The real stand out result, as is always the case with Seasonic designs, was the ripple test though with some of the best figures we have seen in some time.
I can’t really say that I found any faults with the unit, performance was excellent with stable rails and close to silent fan. The modular feature allows you to keep the case cleaner and have better airflow, and since they are black you can easily hide the cables behind the motherboard tray. Overall a superb product from NZXT once again!
The HALE82 series from NZXT is a nice cost-effective to some of the higher price power supplies out there. Yes, it is not a Gold rated unit like the HALE90 but how much of us have the funds to fork out for a PSU of this rating. The power, wattage and ampere from this series are more than enough to push a hefty system even one with dual video cards. So a lack of power is not an issue. Nor is a lack of quality as the HALE82 is manufactured by Seasonic. IF you are building a rig using two video cards around the Radeon 6950 or Nvidia 560 series, you will find the 750W model we reviewed a fine fit.
Overall, for a mainstream power supply, the NZXT HALE82 750W is excellent. I was able to overload a pretty good system without any problems, and stretch the PSU to the max. The NZXT HALE82 750W handled everything I could throw at it. Anyone looking to get a good mainstream gaming power supply, or something with a little more juice and reliability can't go wrong picking this PSU up
