The NZXT Sentry Mesh fan controller may not have a lot of bells and whistles, but sometimes you just want a direct way to quickly silence your case fans.  The aethetics of the Mesh fit in with just about any modern PC case, especially if it is colored black and already uses black mesh in its design.

The Pure Point: With rugged aesthetics and simple setup and operation, the NZXT Sentry Mesh is a well-priced, basic fan controller.

I also learned that the product is solid physically, the style fits fairly well even with cases of differing design, the circuitry holds up well when given a good solid load, and it has more than enough cable length for just about any case out there. If you’re looking for something that can give you real time data about everything under the sun, check out the Sentry LXE I mentioned earlier. But, if you just want something that will give you control of up to five fans and won’t heat up your case inside, then this may just be what you’re looking for.

Overall I can recommend the NZXT Sentry Mesh for anyone looking for a good fan controller for use in a Mesh style cases which uses 3pin fans.

With an MSRP of just $24.99, the NZXT Sentry Mesh is a real bargain for a 30 watt fan controller. Also, even while it eliminates most of the LED lighting and on-board displays that are prominent on fan controllers, it still offers excellent fan control that serves as a catalyst to either reduce noise or improve a systems overall cooling.

 The Bottom Line: The NZXT Sentry Mesh offers great looks, 30 Watts of power and five channels of fans to control, all the while still selling under $25. NZXT has delivered quite the kit with this fan controller.

The NZXT Sentry Mesh is a very affordable solution retailing for a mere $24.99 so it comes down to your specific needs.  If you are looking for a LCD display and audible alarms then the Mesh is not for you. If you want a simple but powerful fan controller the NZXT Sentry Mesh is a very viable option. The $25 price point makes us feel that the Sentry Mesh is a product worth considering.

NZXT's latest fan controller, the Sentry Mesh, is a low-profile, mostly stealthy design, and beyond a couple minor technicalities, is an excellent unit. Its use of linear potentiometers keep the facade very clean and flat, while the all black construction and near lack of bright LEDs keep it very stealthy. Build quality is very solid and it feels as though it will have no problem holding up to general use with ease and more. Complimenting the general build quality is the steel mesh used. It easily matches the mesh of the Cooler Master Storm Scout and will likely match the rest of Cooler Master's cases, possibly even some other manufacturer's cases as well. Each channel is capable of supplying 30W of power. Although this is 5W short of what Sunbeamtech's Rheosmart 6 offers, 30W is still plenty, even for the most power-gobbling fans. A complimenting contrast to the Sentry Mesh's power capacity is that at a minimum it will still run each fan at 4.8V, keeping your case virtually silent while still providing airflow, so that overheating is as minimal a concern as possible.

At a street price of $26, the latest Sentry is a remarkably good deal compared to $60+ touchscreen devices, and it gets the job done.  It’s also dirt simple to adjust, and while this will involve taking your hand off the keyboard or mouse, it doesn’t necessarily require taking your eyes off the monitor, and if you’re deft, you can max out all five sliders with one swipe and one hand.

The NZXT Sentry Mesh is a very simple piece, a five fan controller with continuously variable slide controls for each fan, but it is executed very well. The NZXT Sentry Mesh is very well made and feels very solid in your hand. There is very little flex to the unit and reinforcements around the circuit board are clearly visible. Installation is exceedingly easy, with the mount fitting into the 5.25” bay and one single molex to provide power. The individual fan cables on the Sentry Mesh are long enough to make cable routing an easy task.

Performance of the NZXT Sentry Mesh was exactly as advertised. The sliders were smooth and fan speed varied as was to be expected from the controls. The mesh face and styling is definitely an added plus. The NZXT Sentry Mesh looks right at home in just about any of today’s cases. So, a simple piece, but one that performs an important task flawlessly, is well built and looks good doing it. If your case fans could use a little tweaking, the NZXT Mesh is highly recommended.

 The NZXT Sentry Mesh is about simplicity and functionality. It is no more than a simple fan controller, but it is awesome in this role, with a very intuitive operation.

Those of you who like flashy gadgets with lights, colors, and lots of functions, should look for another product. But if you just want to buy a great and inexpensive fan controller that simply controls your fans, the NZXT Sentry Mesh is the choice for you.

 To each his own when it comes to fan controllers: some like them with loads of LED lighting to display all the necessary information, where others like things plain and simple with just the necessary fan control. I personally fall in the crowd of the latter. The simple look of the Sentry Mesh is also ideal with the growing trend of mesh front facial PC cases

The unit is able to provide an adequate amount of power to each of the channels, offering support for fans ranging from the smallest 40mm to the larger 230mm that are popping up in the PC towers of today. The unit will not power off a fan entirely but will reduce the power to 40%, which would make most fans almost inaudible, unless you are running some of those Delta units that sound like the airliner of the same name.

The user has no way of showing the fan rotation speed or system temperature, but most will realize this when buying such an item. If you need these features NZXT has the Sentry 2, LX and LXE.

The NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Controller is one of the best looking, functional and affordable fan controllers on the market today. The mesh front along with the sliders for controlling the fans look incredible. Also, this fan controller is cable of 30W per channel.

Truer words couldn't have been said about this fan controller. It is a very nice piece of work again from NZXT, and I applaud them for coming out with a product that may not scream "LOOK AT ME", but does its job without all the fuss. At a price that doesn't break the bank, it is well worth your hard earned cash.

As Such the NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Controller is money well spent and as a result earns a "MUST HAVE"!

There are only a few minor drawbacks. Immediately obvious is the single white LED that can be somewhat bothersome depending on your angle to it. None of the cables are braided or grouped together in any way, increasing the potential for frustration and tangled or snagged cables. Mitigating this somewhat are the cables' identification tags for quick fan swapping. Finally, there are only five channels. Although most fan controllers offer from four to six channels, so this isn't a low or oddball offering, I do require a sixth channel that this controller doesn't have. On the other hand, if one only needs less than or exactly five channels, NZXT's Sentry Mesh is certainly worth considering. These are minor problems that I and perhaps some others would take issue with, but I also recognize that still others might not, so I don't hold them against NZXT too strongly. Overall, if you're looking for a high quality, inexpensive, good-looking fan controller, the Sentry Mesh is definitely worthy of consideration. All that you need to consider is if it will meet your needs, and if so, at an introductory price of $25, it's certainly a very good deal. All you have to do to get one is wait for NZXT to get some stock shipped out to retailers.

    * High quality construction
    * Sleek and low-profile

 A plethora of fans can be found on just about any new PC case in today's market. Thankfully the NZXT Sentry Mesh is able to take control of up to 5 fans in an easy to use package. The simplicity and no-nonsense approach to a fan controller earns the NZXT Sentry Mesh an 8 out of 10.

 In all there is very little to dislike about the overall design of the NZXT Sentry Mesh, but there were still a few small issues we would have like to have seen addressed. The first of which is that the LED light on the front, though small, can still produce enough light to be annoying at times. This is of course dependent of the position of the fan controller in comparison to the user, but in our opinion it would have been nice if NZXT had included either an on/off switch for the LED or removed it entirely. Also, none of the connectors on the Sentry Mesh support 4-pin PWM fans, which limits its support to only fans that utilize a 3-pin power cable.

With an MSRP of just $24.99, the NZXT Sentry Mesh is a real bargain for anyone with tired of the case bling. Also, even while it eliminates most of the LED lighting and on-board displays that are prominent on fan controllers, it still offers excellent fan control that serves as a catalyst to either reduce noise or improve a systems overall cooling.

Unfortunately, the NZXT Sentry Mesh is not yet distributed at the retail level, and we don't have an exact ETA on when it will become available.

 And as we can plainly see the five 30W channels provide more than sufficient capacity for high speed fans to reach their full potential while keeping them on the quiet side when necessary. The easy installation and long cables are a big plus and provide great cable management opportunities along with a clutter-free install.

Like the package says, Simplicity and Functionality at its best, I love the NZXT’s Sentry Mesh fan controller's rugged look. For anyone with a mesh front on their case, this controller will blend right in, and the stealthy sliders will look and work great.

The Pure Point: With rugged aesthetics and simple setup and operation, the NZXT Sentry Mesh is a well-priced, basic fan controller.
