Available at NewEgg for $59.99 the Sentry LX is one of those items that even if it didn't work as well as it does, it still might be worth the price for the cool factor! With the cool factor and the ability to control 5 fans and monitor 5 temps, I think it's a good deal. Most of the competition can only control the fans and wont look half as cool while doing it! Without a doubt I can easily recommend this fan controller to any gamer that is looking for solid control and who also wants to add a nice touch of bling to your case. Not as simple as standard knob controlled rheostats but definitely a lot more exciting with the visual perks while doing the same job.

The Sentry LX is clearly a step above the smaller single slot or floppy sized controllers. The large screen and anodized aluminum construction go a long way towards justifying the premium price. The large size makes displaying the 5 fans and temperature probes from getting cramped. The ability to manually set your fans or simply set them to automatic and forget about them is a nice feature as well.

All considerations covered, I believe that the Sentry LX would be a very useful addition to any computer, but would benefit the serious gamer most of all. The ability to connect and control up to five fans is a beautiful thing, as is the large screen that comes on it. I personally would recommend anyone with heat issues to consider buying a few fans and purchasing one of these and see what a difference total control can make. Sharpton for President, I'm out.

This piece is nice. Really nice. The aesthetics are gorgeous and it's probably the nicest fan controller you'll find around; it's not over the top and garish but it does have just enough flash to look eye-catching. NZXT has struck a pleasant balance between form and function here,

If you’re in the market for a fan controller then the NZXT Sentry LX is what you want in your system, it’s easy to use and install, it has nice long cables, it’s well made and it look great. The Sentry LX is easily one of the nicest fan controllers on the market today.

"Any way you look at it, I feel that NZXT has a winner here. I confidently give it a solid 8 out of 10 rating. The build quality as well as functionality are there. Without a doubt the Sentry LX can be a very integral part of your next build especially if you are a die-hard air cooling aficionado that demands full control over your cooling needs."

"The controls are as easy as it gets. The six buttons allow the user to switch between manual and automatic mode, set the speed of each fan manually and, if needed, reset the whole unit to factory settings. The manual controls were very responsive and immediately showed a change in the RPM of our fans. The LCD also employs a blue fan graphic for each of the system’s fans to visually present their relative speed. The NZXT Sentry LX is a solid product. Those of you who need it will know you need it, and it works well enough and does the job while looking good. Some of the details could have been improved, but overall, we are pleased to award the Sentry LX with our Stamp of Approval."

When searching for a fan controller, you'll be hard pressed to find one as sexy as the Sentry LX. With it's black brushed aluminum trimmed with chrome, and the large multi-color LCD, the Sentry adds that extra bit of 1337 to even the most high end cases. It would look at home in anything from a Linkworld 43701-229FU to a Lian Li PC-P80. It can drive up to 5 fans, with plenty of power for each, and adjust individual fan speeds based on data from the 5 temperature sensors. All fan and temperature data is displayed on the scren simultaneously, as well as the time and date, plus the nifty little spinning fan icons!

The NZXT Sentry LX is a great looking fan controller that allows setting and monitoring the speed of multiple fans and monitoring up to five channels of temperature along with displaying the time and date. The unit is easy to install and setup and the accuracy of the displayed fan speeds and temperatures are good for all channels. One potential watch-out is the 4W per channel power limitation. This will exclude many larger, high speed case fans. Check each fan you plan to use and confirm it doesn’t draw more than 0.33A before connecting up to the Sentry LX.

With the brief testing, and unpackaging done, it's time to take a quick verdict of this product. Oh yeah, it's definitely worth having - especially if you have a few fans around that feature both 3 and 4 pin tails - which means that you could pack a few fans onto each channel, so long as they don't pass that 4w limit. Though this unit does have issues with wiring, visibility, and fan support, it is quite a worthwhile purchase in any case. Especially if you manage to snag one of these snazzy panels on a sale. Best of all, it's just shallow enough that the user should be able to pack in some hard drives behind it, via 3.5" to 5.25" adapters. With that said, it's time to wrap this one up, get it into the chassis bag, and spin down to the next review on the line. Great work NZXT!

In the end, the NZXT Sentry LX has proven to be an excellent fan controller. The results were accurate, the user interface was intuitive, and the design was flawless. At $69, the Sentry LX isn't too expensive, but is definitely worth the money. Just as well, we at TechwareLabs give the NZXT Sentry LX the Awesome Hardware Award because it's just that great.

The NZXT Sentry LX fan controller succeeds in constructing order out of chaos. It delivers everything that you need in a fan controller and more. Where as most other fan controllers only regulate that of a few fans, this product takes-the-cake with support for 5-fans, 5-temperature probes and a huge dual-bay LCD display. For NZXT to have combined all of these features into one sleek fan controller is really KICKASS!

The NZXT Sentry LX is a straightforward and easy to use fan controller. The ability to have both fan speed control and temperature readings of up to five different fans and locations makes this fan controller addition for anyone with a high number of case fans.

This is not NZXT's first fan controller. They released the Sentry (not LX) a while ago and it didn't get too much fame. Since then, NZXT seems to have learned a few lessons, because, to me, the Sentry LX is absolutely stunning. I never pegged myself as a fan controller type—I like to have my fans at high always, so I always have the best performance (in fact, there is a fan controller built into my case, which I never wanted to use). I also like to maintain a clean front panel, without any gimmicky devices. The Sentry LX has converted me, though. The set-and-forget style automated settings, allowing you to program certain fans to certain speeds given their specific temperature probe, is very powerful and lets me have my fans at high when I need them, and turn them off when I'm just browsing and chatting. The Sentry LX is a great fan controller, and deserves a look from everybody, modders and performance buffs alike, even if you never thought you wanted a fan controller. I'm happy to award NZXT's Sentry LX the OCIA.net Seal of Approval.

The NZXT Sentry LX is one of those products that is very close to being perfect, it's well made, looks great, is easy to install and just works very well. One of the things I really like about the Sentry LX is the large display where all the temperatures and information is easily readable from across the room, you don't have to push any buttons to see the temperatures or speeds of the fans, it's all right there for you in plain view. I like the large clock and calendar also, I refer to the clock in my toolbar often to check the date, and now I can just glance to see all the information right there in front of me.

The NZXT Sentry LX is a nice tool to add to your air cooling system, and it allows you to get the most out of your fans. When it's time to keep your components cool during a gaming session, it speeds up the fans. When it's time to read an e-book, and the PC is idling, it slows the fans down to reduce noise. Moreover, it displays up to five temperatures, directly on your case's drive bays, which is very useful. I was also very impressed by the accuracy of its temperature readings. Not only is it as accurate as a good old alcohol thermometer, it also meant that the changes in temperatures are detected instantly. Seeing these results, I can't do anything else but trust the readings shown by the NZXT Sentry's display screen. I will even use it to gather the room temperature for my next reviews.

To begin with I was totally impressed by the quality of the Sentry LX. NZXT could have easily made the front of the unit out of plastic and still made it look good. But they went beyond that and made it of high quality aluminum. This alone will make it sell well as there is alot of people out there with some very high end cases and do not want any parts of plastic on the front of their tower. When it comed to montioring the internals of your PC any front panel device will do but the Sentry comes with more. Most LCD displays may only have three to four fan and thermal readers. But the Sentry LX has five so people with alot of fans will not have to worry about adding an additional panel device to read more fans. One feature that is very simple but also very useful was the built-in clock display. This was something I have never seen in a functional device like this before. Good job NZXT.

What more can I saw. The NZXT Sentry LX Fan Controller delivers as advertised; this stylish product definitely makes something as basic as controlling fan speed look cool. The large display, easy-to-use interface, and well-designed front panel make using this product a breeze. If you’re looking to add some style and function to your standard PC’s fans, you should definitely consider this product as a way to cheaply supercharge your computer. This product earns a rbmods.com recommended award.

Overall I was fairly happy with the NZXT Sentry LX. It operated as advertised, and did exactly what I hoped it would do. If you can overlook the hard-to-read LCD and the minor size discrepancy, you may find the Sentry LX to be a handy little addition to your rig. Heat can be a dangerous thing in today’s gaming monster rigs. It is nice to know there is one more way to make sure yours stays cool.

We all know how important it is to keep our systems cool, a cooler system equals a happier system. But when you’re a hardcore gamer or just have a super PC as I call them that generates a lot of heat, you may jam pack the system with fans and not really know if they are doing their job or if you even need a fan in a specific area of your PC. With the Sentry LX Fan Controller not only can you manually and automatically control the speed of up to five fans but you are informed of the temperature in the area near the fans

The NZXT Sentry LX is one of the best (if not simply the best) fan controllers I have worked with. It was very simple to get running with no major headaches involved in plugging in thermistors and then routing them. The Auto setting was well done and with careful placement of thermistors can help to reduce overall case temps significantly while helping keep noise levels down while the system is idling. In terms of pricing the Sentry LX is also at the top of the list. If you are looking to get a handle on the fans in your system or just want something cool to look at on the front of your case the Sentry LX takes center stage.

I loved the Sentry LX. Enthusiasts will love the control it gives you over the fans to not only keep your system running cool, but to also keep it quiet. Many times your fans are spinning up much faster than what is necessary, so slowing them down can cut down on noise considerably. Your best bet as far as temp probe placement goes is to actually place one on the GPU and another on the CPU. Due to the amount of control that the Sentry LX gives you, you’ll just want to manually set the fans associated with those two probes, which will allow you to keep it partially on auto (or some of you may not even have 5 fans, so you wouldn’t need these extra connections).

The NZXT Sentry LX is sleek, functional and easy to use. If you are looking for fan and temperature control, then look no further. This unit performs exceptionally and the temperature reports are in line with the reports from the motherboards where the thermistors for CPU and GPU are much closer to the cores than I can place the NZXT thermistors, But that still does not affect the way the Sentry LX works; it uses the air temperatures to adjust air flow. The core thermistors are more for the hardware to tell if the cores are getting too hot and need to be throttled back before they are damaged.

Great product... only one slight issue. Wish they had sent extra temperature probe tapes, because one wasn't enough to keep the probes down... the tape keeps peeling up on one side.
