“In the final analysis, NZXT has improved on the already capable Tempest in both functionality and visual style. The Evo is a very capable chassis with plenty of room for hard drives and modern graphics  cards. The updated look is very appealing and the cooling performance is top-notch. The Evo deserves a spot on your short list of mid-tower cases for your next build or upgrade. Don't overlook it”

“Overall we would say the NZXT Tempest EVO chassis is aimed towards computer enthusiasts and gamers who are looking for an attractive and well-featured chassis at a modest price range.  The NZXT Tempest EVO is available with an average price of about $110 USD, and occasionally for as little as $90 at the time of this review.  We believe this is a reasonable price in a tough competitive market filled with literally hundreds of competitors available in this price range.  The NZXT Tempest EVO is a good all-around case for those who need some nice aesthetics and features but don’t want to break the bank or compromise quality as a result.”

" The Tempest EVO brings many small improvements over the original Tempest.  Again, attention to details is key. The right-side panel has had a styling change to more closely match the window leaving more room for routing cables behind the motherboard tray. We also see NZXT's nine-blade black and white fans, claimed to move more air at lower noise levels. We don't know if there was an airflow improvement but the fans sure are quiet while moving a respectable amount of air. Another appreciated change was the inclusion of a large CPU cooler cutout in the motherboard tray. While it is touted as the the "Airflow King Reborn," the Tempest EVO should not be considered strictly on expected temperature improvements.  As shown in our performance testing, it really only stayed on par when compared to a budget case. We were unimpressed with a couple other things, that are not necessarily deal breakers, but they should be mentioned. The 5.25" to external 3.5" adapter didn't fit well and needed a screw to secure in place. And the filter bracket for the PSU intake filter was a bit cheap and flimsy as well. Sometimes the details make the Tempest EVO, sometimes they break it. Overall we love the looks, were excited about the near-silent design and were satisfied by the cooling.  Most enclosures in the same price range come as a true barebones box. The Tempest EVO comes with multiple fans, a tool-less option, intake filters, a tinted side window and an all-black paint job. That's where the Tempest shines- this case really has a lot of extras for a reasonably priced case.  It may not be the very best at everything, and it's not without flaws, but it sure is a well-rounded case, worthy of having any system built inside it."

“After using the Tempest EVO for several days I have been able to distance myself from the Raven 02 and concentrate on the NZXT product. The cable routing is decent; the fans are not too loud and the cooling overall is very effective. The blue LED lighting is subtle enough not to be intrusive and it allows the front of the chassis to exude an air of class. When weighing all factors the Tempest EVO is priced in the right ball park and earns our Worth Buying Award. It is currently available in the UK for around the £85 mark which puts it in line with direct competition such as the Antec 900.

KitGuru says: Even if you have other chassis in mind for an upcoming build, be sure to shortlist this before dismissing because you might be pleasantly surprised.”

“So quieter, more airflow, and a sleeker look.  More slots, more expandability for optical drives, HDDs, and water cooling.  It’s no wonder this is known as the Enthusiast’s Case.”

“NZXT has made a fine run of cases, and the Tempest EVO is no exception. Everything about the case is very well thought out and laid out. The fact that it has genuine eye appeal, with clean lines and a lot of attention to detai,l is just icing on the cake. Its utilitarian aspect is outstanding, and the construction is very solid. The build was easy and pain free, everything is where it naturally should be and it does an outstanding job of cooling. The versatility of the hard drive cages is impressive. There is really no scenario they don’t have covered in making mounting and swapping hard drives very easy, all the while keeping the cooling at a maximum for eight hard drives. For a mid-tower there is a remarkable amount of room inside the case. In addition to the eight hard drives, three large graphics cards would fit with ease. There is really nothing not to like about this case, and it excelled in almost every aspect. The NZXT Tempest EVO is easily one of the best cases I have ever come across, at this price point.”

“NZXT provided me with a good experience with the original Tempest, though I found room for a few suggestions. The Tempest EVO succesfully kept all the aspects I loved about the original and addressed what issues I did have to create one of the best mid-towers I've reviewed. Even more impressive is that the EVO MSRP's for nearly twenty dollars cheaper than it's predecessor. With great airflow performance, enthusiast hardware support, plenty of room for storage, and a slick appearance, there's no reason not to spoil yourself with this case.”

“Overall, 5 of 5 and it gets a "Beg, Borrow, Or Threaten Your Little Brother For The Cash To Buy This" recommendation, as well. Don't steal the case, NZXT needs your money to keep doing these things right. If they keep doing cases like this, they deserve it. For what it is, it's the perfect case. Anything I want done differently there is enough support to do it. It's all I can ask for, and it's enough for me.”

“The NZXT Tempest EVO provides an impressive combination of component capacity and flexibility. Great care and thought, likely with lots of customer feedback, went into refining this successor to the original Tempest case. Most of the changes made were not to enhance the performance directly but focused on enhancing the user experience by reducing noise levels, making the components more accessible and increasing the longevity of case parts. The appearance is sleek and conservatively styled, not screaming for attention yet implying that something powerful is contained within, while the LED accenting tastefully serves to outline the form, indicate activity and add a distinctive touch of bling that contributes to the expression of quality and pride in ownership.”

“If you use air cooling, there is no doubt you will be pleased with the performance this case offers. Likewise, if you use a lot of hard drives and want a mid-tower case, this one is hard to beat. It also looks great, even if a little sharp and 80’s-tastic. It’s definitely a great way to show off your system, with just enough bling to be tasteful but not enough to be gaudy. There are many, many worse things you could do with $109.99 (regularly $89.99 with mail-in rebate as of 4/3/10 at Newegg) than purchasing this case. Water cooling enthusiasts that want an internally radiated solution should look elsewhere, but for everyone else, the NZXT Tempest EVO is most definitely Overclockers approved!”

“The NXZT Tempest Evo is the man's case, it is not going to be for the faint of heart unless you invest in a fan bus controller to harness the noise that all of the fan generate, but in the event you are wanting to see just how fast your system is capable of running then this just might be the perfect case for you.”

“The NZXT Tempest Evo is a very well made case that offers plenty of room for most any system. It’s got a lot of airflow from the included fans and it will keep even the most high-end system nice and cool. I like the aesthetic look of it as well, it’s subtle yet stylish, and I do really like the blue accent lighting on the front bezel.”

“NZXT Tempest EVO is a terrific option for the user looking for an affordable mid-tower case full of nice features. It is definitely an improvement over the original Tempest and the best of all: it is better and comes with the same price tag.”

“As seen in PCWizKid's video review NZXT has taken the original Tempest to the next level with the improvements in air cooling and expansion. For the price of aprox $99 USD the Tempest EVO packs features seen in high end full tower cases only. The target market of hardcore gamers and enthusiasts will love getting this case to overclock their system and run multiple GPU's. Besides the panel being plastic, the styling is terrific and clean to look at with the blue LED's. The NZXT Tempest EVO brings a solid welcoming addition to the tempest line and lives up to be again another recommended Winner from PCWizKid for a mid tower.”

Tech Power Up: 8.2 / 10

“NZXT has taken the original Tempest and fine tuned it, adding a nice list of new features to the case, while managing to keep the price the same upon launch. This new case, called Tempest EVO scores further points with us for the black interior along with small updates to the overall functionality as well as the new aspects in design. Considering the price tag, Tempest comes with plenty of cool features that aren't available in a lot of enclosures. NZXT already managed to turn heads by including six fans into the original Tempest and the EVO continues to offer the same number. This creates some great air flow, but you better be prepared for some noise in that regard. The market segment of the 100 US Dollar enclosures is easily the thoughest of the entire case market and while NZXT Tempest EVO does go with a bit of plastic to realize the overall design, it still feels sturdy and does manage to combine all features and aspect for a cool looking and fully featured chassis. The new features, released around two years after the first Tempest, breath new life into the case and its design and the new changes do warrant the "EVO" addition and marketing as a new case. ”
