“The claim to the title of 'Airflow King' is one NZXT has defintely put effort into achieving, and it shows. With a total of not only six options, but factory installed fans placed effectively to provide cooling to known hot spots, the Tempest is a cool solution to a hot problem. Especially when the chassis is crafted to support enthusiast hardware, such as multiple video cards, large motherboards, and up to eight hard drives. The Tempest has a lot to offer to any gamer, despite a few minor appearance blotches, and does a great job keeping it cool in the process.”

“Overall, we were quite pleased to be able to work with the NZXT Tempest for an extended duration before writing the review, as this allowed us to be able to really get to know the case, and learn as much about it as possible. The Tempest definitely gets a thumbs-up, and should be on your short list if you are looking for an affordable case with plenty of features.”

When it comes to computer cases, the looks do not make your rig run any cooler, faster or more reliable. What does make your system run better overall is the amount of air that is circulated in the enclosure that you choose to house your equipment. With the Tempest they thought of that with having a grand total of six stock fans in this chassis (3 intake and 3 exhaust ). The volume of air being pushed in and out is at an equal value creating the best possible situation for your air cooled equipment. NZXT has put a lot of thought into this chassis and it shows, but the only thing I would have done differently is put in a better wire management system and maybe a removable mother board tray for ease of installation.

They call it the “Airflow King” for a reason the NZXT Tempest case has a great overall feel and is definitely one of the best bang for your buck cases you can get right now. The Tempest has great airflow throughout the whole chassis and best of all it includes all of the fans. The case is very sturdy aside from the small issue with the front panel which isn’t a deal breaker by any means. It will definitely be able to keep your rig cool and looking great too.

The Tempest provides more than anyone can really handle, which is just the way we like it, with eight 3.5” drive bays, three 5.25” drive bays and enough space for all but four dual-slot videocards strapped in. Two front 12cm fans push air in and keep the hard disks cool, then the heat rises and is sucked out by either the third 12cm fan in the back, or one of two 14cm fans in the case’s roof. While the case is steel, the front cover uses plastic connectors for the bay covers, which could snap off or bend all too easily. The external eSATA, USB and 3.5mm ports placed on the top of the case are perfect for external drives or plug and play peripherals. We’ve come to love the screwless design of these newer cases, and the Tempest does not disappoint. All bay drives are screwless, and hard disks sit snug and experience no movement, though we noticed the disc bays did shake slightly. It didn’t hinder performance, though could use more support. This behemoth case is all about simplicity and performance, and that’s exactly what is delivered.

the NZXT Tempest is an excellent case, but any evaluation will keep coming back to its exceptional system cooling and an almost-overkill of internal fans. The selection of 120mm and 140mm fans is extreme to say the least, but due to their size, NZXT has kept ambient noise to a reasonable level. The Tempest certainly lives up to its "Airflow King" hype, and its top-mounted I/O panel, roomy internals and pleasing external design help make it at leader in the $100 mid-tower case market.

Lots of fans, airflow-enhancement features; eSATA port on the front panel; tool-less drive implementation. NZXT's Tempest gaming case aims to transform your desktop's interior into a wind tunnel, and it succeeds— at a remarkably low price.

Tempest “Airflow King” is a great case with a lot of space and a great cooling system. With a total of 6 fans on this case (NZXT here beats some much pricier manufacturers) this case will appeal to most demanding of users. Apart from the fact that it packs 6 fans, this case is incredibly quiet. In our case, the loudest component was our old hard disk. Mounting hard and optical drives with no need for tools is certainly a big plus, but being priced at €100 is an even bigger one. It features two hard disk bays, each capable of housing 4 disks. Most high-end cases don’t have space for 8 disks, so Tempest is definitely worth it. All in all, the price/quality ratio is really good and if you’re looking for a case we sincerely recommend this steel giant.

The NZXT Tempest mid-tower enclosure is a good looking case that delivers excellent airflow with minimal noise. The steel chassis is sturdy and provides solid value. Nine interchangeable drive bay locations permit a lot of flexibility and there is room inside for up to eight HDDs with active air cooling. Overall I like this case a lot and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good balance between excellent features and great value.

We love the fact that the Tempest offers oodles of air cooling, and for those that don't partake in this discipline, water cooling options in the Tempest are plentiful. With the sheer amount of room inside the case, the quality of its construction, and its wonderful feature-set, we are hard pressed to find anything substantially wrong to detract from this positive review experience. However, digging deep, there were a few things that did annoy us. Chief among them were sharp edges on the motherboard tray, no thumbscrews in the PCI area, limited room to store extra wiring behind the motherboard tray area, and no integrated speed controllers on the fans.

The Tempest is a hit and miss for looks, but for functionality, ease of build and price point the tempest has quite a bit going for it. It is easily superior to the Case Nine Hundred having more room, better cooling, the ability to install a dual fan radiator (without modification), and much easier to build your system into. I think that NZXT is on the right track with the way they have designed the Tempest but might want to do a little more work on the appearance. While the Tempest might not win any beauty contests it certainly has it where it counts on the inside. If you can overcome the appearance and want a very good low-cost air cooled case the Tempest may have what you are looking for.

We really like the Tempest case. The outer shell is very well crafted and designed. Though it lacks a removable tray, installing a new motherboard and parts is very easy as it is very roomy. The price of the Tempest is also very affordable, selling at just about $120. NZXT has delivered another impressive case. Though we think its designs were somewhat comparable on an Antec P900, we still liked it regardless. Solid design, functional parts, aesthetically pleasing, makes the Tempest a very good choice for an enthusiast case. We give the NZXT Tempest a score of 9 out of 10 and our Unique Rigs recommendation.

The NZXT Tempest is a well-designed computer case. Designed with the gamer in mind, it comes with all the bells and whistles that we all expect - from removable hard drive bays to built-in intake and exhaust fans. Although case modders will probably not like the fact that the case comes with all chassis fans already in place, gamers will not mind. In fact, it would be better for them to buy an integrated solution like the Tempest and concentrate on gaming, than waste time modding the case.

The NZXT Tempest is an excellent case overall with great attention to quality, design and functionality. With it's six 120mm fans you'd expect it to be loud but it isn't, it's pleasantly quiet and yet keeps your system and its components nice and cool.

The NZXT Tempest is definitely one of the best cooling cases out there. It easily rivals the likes of the Antec 900 and others that people are regarding as excellent case when it comes to air ventilation. For a mere $100 or less it is a price at the point where it cannot be over looked by the would-be consumer. For those that wish to water-cool this case it has a lot to offer in this aspect as well. With very little modification rads can be placed in the front of the case as well as the top for a double loop setup. To fit the need of all your internal components the Tempest has a wide open space to work with. Also there is more than enough room to accommodate as many drives you need. Lastly, we really enjoyed the toolless design which made the assembling of the system pretty quick and easy.

Overall, I was extremely impressed by what was offered by the NZXT Tempest. It seems like a fairly simple notion; lots of fans, and a simple, uncluttered design to deliver maximum airflow. In this respect, it succeeds. It also offers quite a bit of drive bay space, and a flexible configuration to allow for more 5.25" drive bays if you remove the HDD cages; though in this case you'll have to sacrifice one of the front 120mm fans. This case also offers quite a bit of room inside for an easy installation, which I consider to be very important. Cable management is fairly easy and the tool-less options make drive installation straightforward. About the only problems I had was the need to remove the front panel to remove drive bay covers and the plastic top, which felt less sturdy than the rest of the case. But all of this needs to be taken into context; the current price of the Tempest is about ~$100 or so online. For this price, you're getting tons of value and the Tempest would be well-suited for most any rig.

With the Tempest being NZXT's debut here on Overclockers Online, I expect it to be a rising name in the industry. The build quality on all parts of the case is excellent, and with a superior packaging method, it is very evident NZXT aims for the design and production of quality products. With great cooling performance, many enthusiasts will be glad they purchased this case. With mounts for dual radiators and pre-drilled tubing holes, the Tempest will appeal to water cooling enthusiasts as well.

The NZXT Tempest is truly a unique and interesting design. I love how NZXT has included all of the necessary fans with the case, instead of making the user purchase their own. The space inside the Tempest is enough for anyone, and it can even be used as a server tower, given the amount of hard drive space available. If you are like me, you'll think the lights on the case are great - though that is a personal preference - and they make it look pretty for any LAN party! The case does a great job of cooling the components, especially the hard drives, and even gives you the option to install a liquid cooling setup with minimal work! Having the two exhaust fans at the top of the case eliminates the need for adding fans to the liquid radiator, and maximizes the space that is available. Having the PSU at the bottom of the case also aids in keeping the critical areas of the computer cooler.

Price is something else most people take into consideration when buying a case. The NZXT Tempest retails for $99, which would make this fall into a budget gaming case.

We liked NZXT Tempest a lot and we think that it provides an outstanding cost/benefit ratio to users looking for an inexpensive enthusiast-level case. it allows you to install some water cooler radiators based on two 120-mm fans directly inside the case, below the two 140-mm fans available on the top panel. According to NZXT this case is compatible with Swiftech MCR220, Asetek Dual radiator solution and Thermaltake TMG2. The case construction is very sturdy and there aren’t any sharp edges where you could cut your hands and fingers while building your PC.

The NZXT Tempest is a very nice case. I really like the looks of the fully vented bezel. The raised top gives it a look that is more than the plain ol' flat piece of steel. The small trapezoid-shaped window is a nice change from the huge lexan windows I've been accustomed to. Interior and exterior fit and finish are excellent, but I have come to expect no less from NZXT. The size of the Tempest is just right. An extra couple of inches in length accommodate the longest video cards just perfectly. The extra height made it a close fit in the space I normally place my rig, but it wasn't enough to make a real difference.

The NZXT Tempest Mid Tower case really is the "Airflow King". You won't find any other case that includes so many pre-installed large fans that are also quiet. This case provides a lot of features and a unique design and can be found for around $109.99. I think that NZXT did a great job in creating a case that is great for many computer enthusiasts whether you're the overclocking, water cooling, or mass storing type of person. It is also great for the average user and looks great at the same time. This case won't leave you disappointed. The case also lacks sharp interior edges, so we didn't gash our hands while installing gear inside the case. The PCI slot brackets do leave something to be desired, but it's more of a minor annoyance than a major issue. Overall, this is a very good case that also happens to be an excellent value. I have to admit, I've long been a fan of Antec and having recently built a new rig using the Nine Hundred, I've been very pleased with its design and performance. However, after spending some time getting to know the Tempest, I have to say that NZXT has a quality product on their hands and is quickly becoming a strong competitor in the world of computer enclosures. the Tempest is still pretty quiet considering the number of fans. The noise level is very low and would be fine for all but the most demanding users. The Tempest is well built, has plenty of room for just about any type of system one might wish to build (including a server), and has strong air cooling capabilities. With its included assortment of six fans and an aggressive price point of around $100 (US), this case packs a lot of bang for the buck and is worth recommending.

If you're after a case that can accommodate a good number of fans and easily supports water cooling, the NZXT Tempest did live up to its name of being an airflow king. While it may be an airflow king, the Tempest isn't a king among all cases. The two 140mm fans and four 120mm fans come at a cost of noise. The case is built well with steel construction, but there is still some plastic to be found around this case. The aesthetics are nice especially with blue LEDs for the front panel and side fans, but from our perspective it isn't the best we've seen. When installing the extended ATX Tyan motherboard, it was a tight fit for this case and ended up causing issues with the hard drive cages. What's nice about this case, however, is the airflow and that its price point, which comes in at just under $100 USD! This steel chassis with all of its features is quite affordable at $99 USD, compared to the SilverStone Temjin TJ10 and others that can be two to three times more expensive. For enthusiasts after an affordable case that can safely house your hardware components and can easily accommodate water-cooling, the NZXT Tempest is the one to get.

My overall experience with the NZXT Tempest was a good one. Having all components installed and running, the case has made a positive impression on me over the past two weeks. I initially wasn't sure of some of the styling accents, and I guess you can say I'm still unsure. Styling is always a subjective matter that I'll allow you to decide based on the photos provided. What has really impressed me about this case is the features and flexibility they have managed to include. NZXT included six near silent fans, space for eight hard drives, and mounts to internally install a dual 120mm radiator for water cooling, all while providing more than enough room to install any video card. I will definitely have this case in use for years to come.

Although the Tempest was planned with gamers in mind, its high airflow design, screw-less drive bays, and $99 MSRP make it a nice alternative for servers too. With a total of six 120mm fans in its standard setup, the NZXT Tempest makes claims of being the “Airflow King”. All fans are properly configured and half of them are equipped to showcase your system with blue LED lighting. The two front fans and the side have this lighting effect in place. All fans ran quietly and performed very well. On top of this, the two fans mounted to the top panel are also set up to run several of the common dual radiators without having to modify the case. We have the makings of NZXT living up to its claim.

The NZXT Tempest Case will be a big hit amongst enthusiasts. Affordability is obviously very important to most folks and this case is very well priced considering what's included. Airflow is crucial and with 6 included fans (4x120mm & 2x140mm) this case is king in that department. HDD storage space is also vital and with space for 8 HDDs this is not a problem. Another big plus is it's compatible and tested with many well known water cooling radiators which can be mounted at the top of the case using the pre-drilled holes. This is one of the best mid-tower cases on the market!

he Tempest from NZXT’s crafted series is a very nice looking computer case. With a current street price of $109 plus shipping it is in the same price bracket as the ever-so-popular $99.99 Antec Nine Hundred hardcore gaming case. To compare these two cases one will find that they are similar in style, but the Tempest has a little more going for it; it can hold up to 8 hard drives and the top of the case is designed so that it can mount some of the most common dual 120mm water cooling radiators to it with out modifications. Buying a case is obviously a personal decision, but it would be hard to go wrong with the Tempest. With the MSRP of $99 the price and performance value is really good with the Tempest since it comes with all six case fans already installed. The claim by NZXT that the Tempest is the Airflow King with 6 massive fans seems to be true!

While the Tempest from NZXT isn't the nicest looking case around, it certainly feels better than "El cheapo" ones from other manufacturers in the same price segment. It's price/performance ratio is above average and the case can easily be placed in a livingroom for people to look at. Considering the price tag, Tempest comes with plenty of cool features that aren't available in a lot of enclosures. Although the case is made out of steel, NZXT's Tempest with its six fans gives us good performance under loaded conditions.

NZXT has some very nice cases in their portfolio and while the Tempest doesn't turn heads with its sexy finish like the NZXT Lexa case, the Tempest is a case of a different sort. This chassis is designed and geared for performance and is certainly the "Airflow King" while at the same time not the king of noise. I've heard louder cases in the past and owned/modded a few of them. Because of the large fan, NZXT gives the Tempest impressive airflow without making everyone hate you that sit next to you at the LAN.

The front of the case is attractive with Cooler Master looking mesh bay covers. The power and reset buttons are on top of the case in the same panel as the front audio and mic ports. Also located on the front is a pair of USB ports and a single eSATA port. All the fans in the case make it louder than some you will find, but there is no denying the amount of air flow to keep your components cool. The case is also attractive with a clear side window with a blue LED fan. The case retails for around $100 making it less than half the price of my Cosmos S.

From the beginning we looked at trying to balance performance, looks and price. The NZXT design has clean lines and an attractive finish. Coupled with the understated blue accents, this design looks fresh and feature rich. The cooling kept the test system cool even after an unrealistic run under load. With the six fans included, the price point under $100 dollars puts the Tempest in some pretty serious competition. I am happy to report this case runs with the best we have seen

The Tempest doesn't do anything radically different, but it really doesn't need to. It's easy to work, offers good build quality, and will keep your system cool in every sense of the word.
