Once mounted, the Havik performed admirably, besting the Hyper 212 Plus in our stress test by nearly 18 degrees Celsius and slightly outcooling the Prolimatech Armageddon, our Best of the Best air cooler. And it didn’t sound like a jet turbine doing so—the fans were remarkably quiet. At $75, we’ll accept the slightly cheap-feeling mounting bracket. NZXT’s first cooler is great for overclocking.

Moving to the Havik coolers we were happy with the build quality of each model. They felt sturdy and the parts used, such as NZXT fans, were of a high standard. Installation was simple and the manual easy to follow and overall there was one issue... we really were not fans of the rubber fan mounts. Standard clips as used by other manufacturers work just as well and are less fiddly. That said the performance cannot be faulted and these two coolers offered top notch performance in the air cooling marketplace.

With a current price tag set at USD59.99 inside the USA (Amazon) and at 69.90Euros inside the EU (Caseking.de) the HAVIK 140 CPU Cooler by NZXT is a very good offering (especially for USA residents) for people who are looking top performance at low noise levels. Certainly though the HAVIK 140 is a single heatsink solution and thus quite smaller than other units like the K2 or the NH-D14 still it's quite large and that means that you can't place it inside a very small PC Case so be sure to check its measurements prior to buying it. Overall the HAVIK 140 is an excellent CPU Cooler and because of that it walks away with our Editors Real Deal Choice Award.

Installation is very easy thanks to NZXT’s mounting brackets that come with the HAVIK 140. Attaching the heatsink to your motherboard is a pretty easy task and even for first time system builders there should be no problems. Mounting the fans is also equally easy and from start to finish you should be able to upgrade your systems cooling in a short amount of time. At the end of the day it’s pretty easy to like the NZXT HAVIK 140 CPU Cooler thanks to the performance it offers. While the HAVIK 140 didn’t achieve our top score it still easily gained our "Editors Choice - Silver" award thanks to its performance, build quality, and features it offers. If you’re looking for a cooler that can perform while not making you go deaf with excessive noise you’ll want to take a look at the NZXT HAVIK 140.

A very daring first entry and one that has impressed us. The build quality of the HAVIK 140 is exceptional. The hardware package they use to secure the cooler is as good as any we have seen, and the dual 140mm fans are both quiet and effective. In a market as competitive as CPU Cooling, pricing is often the determining factor when making a purchase. In the $50-75 range NZXT are competing with the big boys like CoolerMaster, Noctua, Thermaltake and Zalman to name a few.  The NZXT HAVIK 140 is currently available from NewEgg.com for $65 USD. We think $65 is a good deal considering the Noctua NH-C12P SE14 costs $75.

Building a CPU cooler that is both powerful and quiet is a difficult balancing act; the desire for more airflow is ever at odds with the need to keep fan noise to a minimum. The Havik 140 manages to perform admirably on both counts, providing plenty of cooling muscle while remaining utterly silent under all but the heaviest loads. With an average price of $75 online at time of publication, it’s certainly on the pricier end of coolers, but we believe it is worth every penny. If you want performance and silence, this is the cooler to beat.

Overall, the construction quality is good. The fans are quiet and reasonably effective. Since the fans run at full speed all the time, you'll hear a low hum. PWM fans would make the cooler quieter under idle and moderate loads scenarios.

The debut is successful! The engineers and designers with the supply from NZXT HAVIK 140 has a very good CPU cooler for enthusiasts and silent users. Build quality, cooling capacity, and volume moving at a high level. Even long-established companies such as Thermaltake, Zalman or Noctua can merely observing something in this product.

NZXT Havik 140 is an excellent cooler! It is the most effective CPU cooler today, and it doesn’t yield even to Thermalright Archon. Super-efficient, quiet, versatile, with simple and reliable retention that provides very high-pressure hold – is there anything else you could wish for? So, if you see it, don’t wait: this cooler is absolutely worth it. That is why we are awarding NZXT Havik 140 our highest title - Editor’s Choice

I absolutely love this cooler. Even though it looks fairly simplistic without any flashy branding or LED fans, I still think it looks great. One of these inside of a white Phantom with a Hale90 would be straight money! Even the fans are amazing. Big, quiet, fairly easy to install after a few tries and a breeze to remove with only two light tugs on each fastener loop.

NZXT did a great job bring to market a great first cooler. The dual 140mm fans definitely added to the wonderful performance we saw here today. What we felt was ingenious was the way the fans were attached to the cooler. The use of rubber holders made the assembling process easy and fast. But better yet it took no time disassemble the system. Chances are you will not need to disassemble as we are confident you will be pleased with the cooling level of the Havik.The Havik 140 will set you back $75, which will put it in the neighborhood of some of the best coolers on the market like the Prolimatech, Thermalright and Zalman of the world

 The NZXT is currently available at a couple of retailers for $74.99. At a cheaper cost than the Noctua NH-D14, it's a viable option for those who want a top of the line cooler but still want to save a few dollars. It is quiet, easy to install, and compatible with a wide range of sockets. It's a simple design that is very effective and can stand up to the extreme heat output from the latest hardware. This is a cooler that I would certainly recommend to fellow overclockers, gamers, and anyone else who wants the best air cooling setup for their hardware. Overall, I give the NZXT an A+ for this being its first marketed attempt at a CPU cooler, and having it perform so well.

Pros:

    * Easy to install
    * Compatible with a wide range of sockets
    * Excellent performance
    * 90CFM fans are almost inaudible
    * Simple design

 HAVIK 140, NZXT is looking to compete aggressively with companies that are more established in the cooling market. They have done this by giving the HAVIK 140 robust cooling features such as six 6mm heatpipes, a high-quality nickel plated copper base, all aluminum fins and dual 140mm fans. All of these features along with a universally compatible mounting system for Intel and AMD processors should help add up to exceptional thermal performance.

The NZXT HAVIK 140 is hitting the market with an MSRP of $74.99, which places it in competition with some of the best air cooling solutions. Some of the names that offer high-end cooling solutions for the same price include Thermalright, Corsair, Nocuta and Thermaltake, so the HAVIK 140 will definitely have its work cut out for it.

 NZXT did a good job producing the HAVIK 140 CPU cooler. Of course, any cooler with its design cannot disappoint, with a big heatsink with six U-shaped heatpipes, and two 140 mm fans with good airflow.

The result is a great cooler, although not a revolutionary one. With good performance, reasonably low noise level, simple installation and good looks, the NZXT HAVIK 140 receives the Hardware Secrets Silver Award

 Overall, the Havik 140 from NZXT is a very nice first offering. With the MSRP of $74.99 it's not to out of the question for most enthusiasts, but enough competition at that price range they will think about the purchase. It will be interesting to see where the price lands once the Havik 140 gets into the wild and places like Newegg start to carry it.

Legit Bottom Line: NZXT has come to the table with a solid first offering with the Havik 140. With the MSRP of $74.99 its price is not unreasonable.

 The NZXT Havik 140 is a great start for NZXT, a company who’s shifted from case manufacturing to their first CPU cooler. While this CPU cooler is large and in-charge it doesn’t take up that much retail space as some of the higher end CPU coolers. While this CPU cooler has still yet to be released, the retail price is supposed to range between $74.99 to $79.99, putting it up there with the high end CPU coolers.

I wouldn’t recommend this for someone with a relatively small mid tower case. Someone who has a larger mid-tower case, like an NZXT Tempest EVO would probably have no issues installing this in their case. However, I’m not too happy about the awkward installation and troubles I had with this AMD installation. If this is what NZXT has to come for their CPU coolers, than I can’t wait to see what else they have in store.

NZXT have done a tremendous job with their Havik 140. They have settled on a relatively simple heatsink design that has proven to be effective countless times. While most manufacturers do tweak the fins to maximise airflow, NZXT have gone for a planar array of fins akin to the Thermaltake Frio. As such, the heatsink is reminiscent of many other successful single tower heatsinks. The six heat pipes are arranged very similarly to the Thermalright Archon and the dimensions are strikingly similar to the Venomous X. Like the Archon, the Havik also supports 140mm fans that come with 120mm mounting holes. The mounting mechanism resembles those employed by both Prolimatech and Thermalright so NZXT have drawn inspiration from the right people.

In reality, the design paid off. NZXT have to be commended for bundling two very unique fans with their heatsink so users are not left the trouble of having to source some themselves. They are quiet and perform decently, enough to allow the Havik to beat the Archon in their stock configurations. Even changing the fan configurations demonstrate that the heatsink is more efficient than the Thermalright Archon.

"The thermal performance of the HAVIK can be credited to the design, which utilizes technologies such as six 6mm heatpipes, a nickel plated copper base, optimal heatpipe positioning and dual 140mm fans. These are all technologies that are utilized by the best cooling solutions on the market, (excluding the heatpipe positioning) so NZXT didn’t miss any steps on their first outing.

Along with the excellent thermal performance, the NZXT HAVIK 140 is also a very high quality product that includes thick aluminum fins and two high performance 140mm fans. The thickness of the fin array is very important in our opinion, because it not only improves the overall cooling efficiency, but also prevents the fins from bending while mounting the heatsink or attaching the fans. Likewise the included fans add a lot to the design of a heatsink and the ones included with the HAVIK work quite well at efficiently dissipating the heat built up in the array. Also, the unique fin design allows them gives them a high airflow rating which maintaining a relatively low noise level."

"In closing, I would like to thank NZXT for giving me the opportunity to review this product before its official release. You guys have done a good job on your first effort in the highly competitive cooling market. If you address my few concerns on your fan mounting attach mechanism, I think you will have a good chance of breaking into the high performance air cooling market and be talked about side of such names as Thermalright, Prolimatech, Noctua and Zalman."
