As the Source 220 is based on the same reliable chassis design used by the Tempest 210, you can be assured that whichever case you end up choosing will keep your components nice and cool. These two cases form the backbone of NZXT's budget mid-tower line-up, and with suggested MSRPs in the low $50's they are extremely viable options for replacing the older case. With its minimalistic design, the Source 220 would even work well for HTPC builds.

Looks is what matters and NZXT has managed to offer a good feature set for a 39.90 or 49.90 Euro chassis. Essentially the Source 220 is the exact same chassis as the Source 210 Elite, but with a metal mesh front, allowing for better airflow.

During this review, we found out that the Tempest 210 and the Source 220 cases from NZXT share the same internal design. Costing the same, the main question is, “which one is better?” The Tempest 210 comes with a few additional features that make it a better option than the Source 220, in our opinion. It supports an additional fan, allows you to move the side fans to better match the components you want to cool down, and has an air filter for the optional front fans.

The Bottom Line: A perfect solution to the quandary of Source 210 Elite or Tempest 210. Just grab the Source 220 and get the best of both offerings in one package!

To be honest this case is pretty awesome; its low cost is really an added benefit. Once you get your hardware situated it runs like a champ. A few more fans inside and you’ll be competing with the low temperatures of a higher cost case in no time. The sad thing is that some cases still run hotter than this one with only two fans! This case was designed to follow NZXT’s classic line; it’s just unreal how inexpensive this case is and how well it performs. In the end, most cases in this price range aren’t something you would even buy as a last resort — this case really is of good quality at a very low cost. This might be the NZXT case for you. Way to go NZXT on the Source 220!
