PCWizKid Beta EVO Review

Think Computers: 9 / 10
2010-02-01 | Web Link
"The NZXT Beta EVO is surely an improvement over the original Beta case. The many upgrades to the case make it all that much better. The case offers what people look for in a gaming case at an affordable price, between $40 and $60, depending on where you get it. Overall there?s really not a lot you can say bad about this case, it does what it should do while having the extra features that other cases of this price range don?t have. ThinkComputers awars the NZXT Beta EVO Mid Tower Case a 9 out of 10 score."

“The NZXT Beta EVO is a great case for the budget builder, but still manages to pack in features of a high end case. For only $60, it has room for loads of fans, cable management holes, tool-less installation that actually works, and even manages to look good with a black interior. If only it came with a few more fans.”

“All in all if you are looking for a killer looking case that isn't going to set your wallet on fire the NZXT Beta Evo is a great choice. It keeps your system cool even without the use of all of the extra fans and there is plenty of room to tinker around and build your system out properly.”

"At the end of the day the Beta Evo case from NZXT has scored very well in our testing here at BCCHardware. The features and quality you get with the NZXT Beta Evo are very good when you consider the extremely affordable price tag (~$59.99 USD), and thanks to that we've awarded the NZXT Beta Evo with our "Editor's Choice - Silver" award."

“The NZXT Beta EVO currently sells for $59.99, which is $20 more than the original Beta, and I would absolutely recommend spending that extra cash. Considering the improvements that have been made, the added cost is well worth it—especially if you want/need the additional cooling from the new fan mounts and improved cable routing. If there were a case at this price point that is superior to the NZXT Beta EVO, I would love to see it, because it would have to be pretty amazing. NZXT has done an outstanding job of improving an already excellent case.”

“I feel the increased fan options in conjunction with the bottom mounted power supply and the cable management truly make this case worth the extra ten dollars. With an average price of $46-$54 (at the time of this article) the Beta Evo packs a serious punch for the price or better yet lack there of.”

“The NZXT Beta Evo is a much improved version of the popular and highly awarded Beta case. The original Beta case was nice, but the Evo takes things a step further and truly improves on usability. In the price range of this case I think you’ll be hard pressed to fine a better one than this honestly, the Beta Evo is well worth the cost.”

“All said and done though, the best part of this case is that it is super simple. To the members of a community like TBCS, the NZXT Beta Evo is the perfect starting point for many a mod, assuming the modder can get around the mid-range MSRP. If a modder has an interest in watercooling the modder has a plethora of potential options in regards to adding an appropriate watercooling system. For those that want a flashy mod, the all black color scheme is a perfect starting point for all designs. For it's features and usability, the NZXT Beta Evo is deserving of a TBCS 4/5.”

For those that either want to get into or are looking for a great blank canvise to start some truly unique case mods looks no further than the NZXT Beta EVO. with room for a minimum of six fans, plus anymore that you can find room for and with plenty of area to add LEDs and Cold Cathode lines to make your case stand out, or to just put your own personality onto it this is a great place to start."

“You still get major name branding behind this case, and it seems very sturdy and well built from the sample I received. Over all I think NZXT has done themselves a favor with this version of the Beta line and created a product that the consumer can get behind at a very low cost. The Beta EVO weighs in at 7.82KGs (or 17lbs) and still only costs around the fifty dollar mark, so you just can't beat the price for what is offered in this package. I recommend this chassis for anyone who wants to build on the cheap but is still hoping for some of the high end offerings that you see in the more expensive cases.”

“Overall, if you are looking for a cheap case that is going to be able to house your new build inside of it with some great features, I would take a close look at the NZXT Beta Evo chassis. While you might not get all of the latest whiz bang features for the entry price, the potential looks promising.”

“The NZXT Beta EVO is a great case to build a system around, especially if you are on a budget, but don’t want to sacrifice on the capabilities of the case. The tool less design is a great feature that tends to be something more associated with higher dollar cases. The excellent ventilation also proves to be an exception to the rule for cases of this price point. Though the case only comes with one fan installed, the ventilation alone proved to be great when looking at the case’s overall performance. In many instances, a case in this price point normally tends to suffer from a lack of ventilation and fans, with noticeably higher then ambient system temperatures. This just is not the case with the Beta EVO, which really helps to push this case above the rest for an excellent case at a very affordable price.”

This is a very solid case with plenty of features. The only con is the side panels being a little flimsy. And dust filters not so easy to clean.
