View Full Version : H2: Cannot remove HDs from cage

Hello,

I am having an issue with removing hard drives from the hd cage of the H2 case. I have tried to remove the hard drives by opening the front door of the case and removing the fans, then squeezing the plastic hd tray tabs together while pulling the tray toward the front the case.

I cannot squeeze the tabs together hard enough to have them clear the locking tabs that embed themselves into the cage (so the hds wont move). I even removed the rubber/silver push 'screws' that the case provides for each hd tray.

The tabs cannot be pushed in any further because they have no more room to bend before hitting the metal hd that has no give.

I can easily remove the EMPTY hd trays, as the plastic trays bend enough while pushing the tabs together to clear the tab groove on the hd case.

The only thing I can think of is that the hds were not properly attached to the trays before adding them to the cage.

Perhaps I installed them wrong or backwards? The connector cables are facing the INSIDE of the case, not toward the front fans.

Does anybody have remedy for this issue?

First off welcome to the forum :)

I didn't have this issue myself directly, remove the front fans you are good to go. What I did notice on my H2 though is the orientation.

When you slide them in it is possible to catch part of the rail below. Make sure the silver set screws are positioned correctly as well. Other than that no ideas without a better photo.

Don't really have anything else to add. I suspect that I installed the HDs in the wrong direction or too far down on the trays, and that is why I cannot squeeze the tabs and pull the tray out.. bc the hd is blocking the tabs from working.

Thanks for your advice. I think I will have to resort to caveman mode and just try my best to rip the hd out.

My one issue with this case is that the instructions were VERY sparse.
