Hey madridistas,
The Sentry LXE (E for external) sits outside of your computer; on your desk or on top the case for example. The Sentry LX sits inside the case and takes up two drive bays.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.

As I said in my above post, The Sentry LX (http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/fan_control/sentry_lx) (as opposed to LXE (http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/fan_control/sentry_lxe)) is mounted inside the case and uses two drive bays.

I assume this is on the Newegg LXE (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992006) product page and not on the official NZXT LXE (http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/fan_control/sentry_lxe) product page. I would stick to the official stuff. As far as I am aware, the LX is for the 5.25" bays, the LXE is for external.
If you want internal, buy the LX. If you want external, buy the LXE.
Edit: Just to provide further support for the information I am providing. The following was taken from the feedback thread for the LXE product page on Newegg.

I own a LXE and it is definately meant to sit on your desk. It would require some creativity and modding to convert it to fit in 5.25" bays. The fans and probes are run through a PCB that fits in one of your expansion slots. There is an external cable (looks like a long 6-pin video card cable) that runs from the back of your case to the desk unit. I have owned both the LX and LXE and both are good units. Personally I really like having my case temps, fan information, date, and time sitting right next to me on my desk.

Keep in mind the LX or LX2 will fit in your optical bay, still have one installed in my Tempest here. There is one member Mike utilizing both on his system, meaning the LXE on his desktop.
