A little Beta Evo build I did over the weekend. Most of the items are installed except the CPU cooler and a couple of hard drives. Until they come I am using the stock intel cooler.

Here is what the completed build will look like:
the final List:
- NZXT Beta Evo chassis
- Power Supply, Cooler Master Real Power ESA 1000W (RSA00-EFAMA3-US)
- Motherboard, EVGA X58 SLI LE (141-BL-E757-TR)
- CPU. Intel Core i7 Quad-Core 975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz (BX80601975)
- CPU Cooler, Corsair H50 (CWCH50)
- Memory. OCZ Blade Series 6 GB DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Triple Channel Kit OCZ3B2000LV6GK)
- Memory Cooler. Corsair Dominator Fan (left over from a friend's previous build)
- Storage. Optical. One Installed. LG Blu-Ray writer, HD-DVD Reader, Super Multi (GGW-H20L)
- Storage. Solid State Drive (SSD). Two Installed. Patriot Torqx, 256GB (PFZ256GS25SSDR)
- Storage. Hard Drive. Two Installed. Hitachi Deskstar 2 TB (HD32000)
- Storage. Flash Reader. Installed in the 3.5 inch drive position slot. Atech Flash Technology (AFT) internal card reader. (XM-35U BLACK)
- Graphics Cards. Triple EVGA. All are the GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP Superclocked (017-P3-1296-AR)
- Chassis Fan. Front 120mm (12cm). Stock NZXT RIFLE Bearing Fan.
- Chassis Fan. Rear 120mm (12cm). Cooler Master 120 mm 90CFM (R4-L2S-122B-GP)
- Chassis Fan. Side 120mm (12cm). One installed. Cooler Master 120 mm 90 CFM (R4-L2S-122B-GP)
- Chassis Fan. Top 140mm (14cm). Two installed. Masscool ball bearing 140 mm 57.12 CFM (FD14025B1L3/4)
- Fan Controller. 5.25 inch bay, 7 Channel. Sunbeam Chromatic Windmill Black (CW-BK)

A note about the last item. I am not really all that enthusiastic about the Sunbeam product. But it does have seven fan channels. However, now that I found out the NZXT LX can turn off the backlighting when on I might just switch fan controllers and connected a couple of fans back to the motherboard.

BTW, The build as pictured below so far can pull down 1090 watts when the CPU and GPUs are under full load. Even though the Cooler Master Real Power ESA 1000W power supply is only rated for 1KW I let my torture test run for and hour to check and see whether or not I will have to upgrade now. Happily the power Cooler Master power supply had no issues handling the load. The power supply's case and exhaust were warm but definitely not hot. A friend's build using a BFG Tech 1250, the same CPU, and dual BFG GTX 295's was hot when placed under the same load! I guess the Cooler master power supply must be a little more efficient than the BFG power supply.

Updated Picture Added on 2009-10-26. This is the final build. The side fans just fit.

the corsair is pretty quiet
can't really gauge mine because i have a pair of Noctua's on it and the other 3x140mm make it out to about 45dB under my desk which you can hear but it's not loud, just a low hum and the sound of air moving through the filters
if i remember correctly the pump itself only produces about 26-30dB at max

You managed to squeeze a ton of hardware in that case. It looks very well put together.

Since posting this system has had a couple of changes.

* Power Supply: Cooler Master exited. In went a BFG Tech EX-1200 1200 Watt supply.
* RAM: OCZ Blade is out. In went 12GB of Mushkin Ridgebacks, 998826, DDR3 1600, 6-8-6-24.
(Anyone up for buying some excellent OCZ OCZ3B2000LV6GK ?)

At this point I must give thanks to the Cooler Master Real Power ESA 1000W. The poor thing lived under the whip of three GTX 295's running Folding@home for many many months! Anyone who has put a power meter onto a similar system to mine knows that poor supply was being run over specs. Yeah sure, the CM's rated output is 1000 Watts with a 1200 Watt peak load. I tell you right now I was running around 1180 watts (after warm up) for most of the time.

The really interesting thing about the Cooler Master supply is it ran cooler at full load than the the BFG does. At least as quiet too! Not that this build is quiet one by any stretch of the imagination. While I trust the BFG more to handle the three cards, my respect for the Cooler master supply to run at specs runs deep.

Bravo to both BFG and Cooler Master! (too bad BFG has now become such a sucky company to deal with for tech support!)

As for more BETA EVO builds, I have five total. They are all similar specs to this system. For each and every build I have thoroughly enjoyed the case NZXT has made.

For my future build NZXT will be in my first round of draft picks! Now if NZXT will make a case to fit the Gigabyte UD9 (and similar sized boards) I would be very happy indeed! And NZXT would rule the case market for that size as well.

Nice rig!!!! I wish I would have waited for the tempest 2 so I could have the black interior. Don't really trust myself painting it right now.
