I'm not sure what to do about this i'm going between viewsonic and dell monitors. dell monitors have more movement options like swivel, height, tilt, and pivot. Both brands have excellent ratings. Dells tend to come cheaper because of coupons and constant big sales happening, btw i am looking for a good monitor 20+ inches for $300-$700 preferably a widescreen. Just give me some suggestions.

I have the 19" version (VX924) and I can tell you it's a great monitor, despite the lack of movement... but I find with such a big monitor the height and everything don't matter all that much...and you can always find an old book to prop it up on...

Can the viewsonic monitors move up and down in height? i'm 6' 4" (age 15 btw) and i have a 19" dell and it's moved up all the way and its perfect height about 23" fully extended

no vertically up and down but it slants...kinda like you would do with a laptop screen but not exactly...

errr i'm not sure if i'd go with it then, btw i said 20 inches and up ("20+ Inches")

..the one I linked you to is 20.1"
I was just saying that I have the 19" from the ViewSonic VX series...so I would think they are pretty much made the same except for size...

not bad, dead pixel count of 8 before they'll do anything isnt particularly friendly it must be said tho. decent brands normally do it for bout 2 or 1 if their really nice.
part from tht nice monitor by the looks of it

Yea, I have the VX924, only 19", but 3ms response. Its a great monitor, ive had Dell's Ultrasharp, and still have it b/c i have another comp that uses it, but i could definitely te;; the difference in their image quality. I did a side-by-side comparison and the Viewsonic VX924 was the best in my opinion. But I'd go with the 20+ Viewsonic.

thats why u make sure theres more then 8 dead pixels if u know what i mean! ;)
I just bought a Acer AL1732d 17" w/ DVI and 8ms. Its nice compared to the one i had which was an old HP 15" 35ms and like 20 dead pixels and a dent :/, but one thing that is weird is that when i went to go write a review on the monitor i bought its no longer on newegg! kinda strange!

It was up at 5am this morning but then I noticed someone making an A$$ out of themselves in it so I'm assuming that persons comments were the reason it's gone now

I've been in the market for a new 19"- 20" monitor myself and have been doing my own research the last few days.
Might want to read up on wide-screen monitors over @ Tom's Hardware (http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/01/31/do_you_want_a_16_9_lcd_monitor_now/)
Tom's also talks about how manufacturer's are inflating specs so you can't go by those either, you can read about it and 19" monitor recommendations here (http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/27/the_spring_2006_lcd_collection/)
PCWorld has a hardware review section, here is their reviews on Top 5 Wide-Screen LCD Monitors (http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,123726,00.asp)
Good luck with your search

ugh i dislike tom's, yes manufacturers inflat specs, but not so much they're wrong.
contrast is measured slightly differently by everyone so thats harder to tell, but the higher the number the better. as to response time, everyones quoting grey to grey rather than colour now. but 16ms should still be fine.

notice that if u go to pcworld and look at all monitors then sort by highest to lowest rating dell is in the top 10 contenders and viewsonic is a ways down on the list
Dell makes some great Monitors. Have a 19" FP myself. 16ms refresh, looks great for movies, games, and everything else. Isn't WS though :(

either way i wouldnt rely on them.
