Hello everyone I have a problem my LED fan finaly went out on the side panel. I went out and bought a new one a Crystal LED fan. Now do I have to hook up both wires? I pluged one into a power source, and now the fan works but no lights and its the same kind that came with the case. It has 3 lights ect. I just cant figure it out, and any help would be great.

Most LED fans operate on 2 wires (red/black) for the power and some have 3 wires (red/black/yellow) the yellow wire is used for monitoring the RPM of the fan. The LEDS are tied into the main power of the fan and usually dont require an additional connection to light them up. When the fan rotates, the lights should turn on, so its possible you have defective fan. However, you could have a specially designed fan with separate power for the LEDs for some of those folks that like to turn off the lights but leave the fan blowing air. Maybe a picture of your fan and its connectors will help us help you better in getting it to work for you.

I have a bad fan I found out lol I did the next best thing and tried it on another computer and still the same way. I have no way of taking a pic of it but the fan has 2 connectors 1 a female and 1 male ( 4 prongs ). The male has to extra wires (red/black) tied in with the 4 prongs. The fan works, but I like I said the lights don't. So I even tried it on a diffrent computer and nothing. So I called up the place and they said they been getting a bad bunch, just to bring it in.
Lol I was hoping that you could prove me wrong and I did hook it up wrong lol becuase I'm sure you know what a pain it is to unscrew it take off the screen, and then getting it all lined up again to put the 4 screws back in lol. Thanks for your help next time I will be set up to take pics :D Thanks again Sir Mandrake as always thanks for helping, and glad there is a site that really tries to help cheers!

Oh wait, i get it now... tha connecotr is designed to plug inline with and existing power connector so you dont use up a power connector for a device such as a Hard Drive. So how you had it hooked up was probably correct since the fan was spinning....So definately yes, if the LED dont light...then its broken.... :erstaunt0
Glad you're are getting it resolved... Good Luck!
