Alright guys, before I rushed off and got married, some of you will remember that I posted a design for a full size Picture PC Case that could be mounted on the wall. It was originally meant to be made out of aluminum, but since I dont have the money for $200 worth of aluminum, nor any metal working tools, Ive decided to make it out of wood.
After some deliberation I settled on a strong and light wood for the back mounting panel, and the two upper panels, and another kind of wood for the sides. Since I have lots of tools to work with wood, and no experience at all (ive never even cut a peice of wood till tonight, lol), I expect this will be quite the learning curve.
So far I have the back panel and one of the drive cover panels done. Since the drive cover panel will also hold up the two outter panels, I will probably end up re-enforcing them, even though the weight will be spread out over eight different areas (four corners for two seperate peices), they will be offset so each can mount seperately to the drive covers, so when you unlock the drive covers on each side the entire peice will come off as one for easy access to the internals.
Heres the pics of the back panel and the drive cover panel I have so far:
