I've been trying to decide what video card is best for future gaming and i've rounded up these cards. The 6800GS, X850XT. The X850XT is faster but doesnt support pixel shader 3.0 and im wondering if a game like the elder scrolls: oblivion would have that or if it wouldnt even be playable at good frames and quality with these two cards. What I'm trying to do is get the most performance in the 200-250 range because i dont really wanna pay 300-400 for a 7800GT, and right now they are having loads of probs. because most of the manufactors or sending them out O/C and ppl have to get new bios and all that crap. oh and is it a good idea to put a 6800GS into a MSI Radeon Xpress 200 mobo, i can recall problems in the past about nvidia cards not liking radeon based motherboards vice versa.

The pixel shader 3.0 is the next level in gamming and would be the way to get a card for the future. However you know how long it takes game companys to really use new tech in there games. Look at SLI it will be years before we see any games that use that ability. I may be way off here, but I think that hard core gammers change video cards every 1-2 years anyway you may want to wait to get that $400 card. Buy then there will be a new card that is even better anyways. I have a X800GTO2, 12 pipes, that is modded to X850, 16 pipes, and it handles everything I throw at it. I didn't spend $400 for it either and it will last untill they have games that make me wan't a new card. Just my opinon, but its better to wait untill your card can't play a game, then to buy a card that can play games that don't even exist. The way video cards change from month to month, you can never be on top of everything, all the time. I would get the X850 and hold out for the gamming companys to put out games that use the new tech's. Just so you know I am a die hard ATI fan and my opinon may be ......um..... you know!!! Good luck!!!

evga has a $20 for the 7800gt, so newegg has it for $300 and after MIR its $280. Not sure if that helps much or not though.

haha,....I think destrekor meant there is a $20 MIR not that it's just $20, making the card drop down from $300 to $280....

oh and as far as rebates go, I think tigerdirect has got a better deal over here....http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=1697246&sku=P56-7808%20SLI%20KIT%201&CMP=EMC-TIGEREMAIL&SRCCODE=WEM1015AF
PNY 7800GT + CoD2 + Ultra X-finity 600W PSU - $100 MIR = $299, but that's only if you want the psu
