I?m poor and I need a good computer that can run battlefield 2.

I have thought about a dell.
I have thought about alienware.
I checked ebay.
And I almost thought about emachines.
So I went on cyberpowersystem.com

Now I?m in the process of finding the price of all the parts I want on newegg.com and to find out if I can save more money.

All I know for sure is that I want the nemesis elite.
Any tips on parts?

Alienware is really overpriced, dell is alright but you never know with them....if you're looking at cyberpowersystem you can also check out their sister site, Ibuypower.com

with newegg and good enough to play bf2, you could get an amd athlon 64 3000+ or higher, probably a nvidia 6600 or ati x700 or higher, and if you want a western digital raptor drive, but thats very not needed. Here are the specs of my dell that I run the demo okay on, but don't buy through them, this system was so over priced;

p4 530 3.0ghz
512mb ram
ati radeon x300 se
western digital 80gb
nec dvd-rw

the problem with dell is everything that can be is intel.

id say get the best AMD cpu you can leaving money for the best HSF you can, then an ide hard drive if your saving as much money as you can. a 9800 pro 128mb and an artic cooler (or the HIS excalebur (or however you spell it) because it comes with one prefitted). the best 1gb of ram you can get. use the PSU in the elite a cheap DVD drive (and a floppy if your getting a sata hard drive) use the onboard sound card.

then overclock the hell out of it (you have very good cooling for your money as the artic cooler is an extreme good cooler and as long as you pick a good cpu cooler your good to go  )

and there you have a pc capable of running BF2 at a fairly decent res for about $400 or so id say if you get everything from the right places.

if you want to splash out more just get better components then those ive listed.

you're getting almost a gigahertz more, id say so..

Exitialis

most definently, the first is a laptop/notebook processor hence the extra cost because it will need a smaller fabrifcation process to reduce the heat given off, seeing as this is going in a PC then get the more expensive one, its much better.

And I also just thought of something.
I really want to the the nemesis elite and with the front cover deal.

basket, here's somethin im not sure if u know already;

Amd provessors go like this;
3000+=3.0ghz
3200+=3.2ghz
3500+=3.5ghz
etc. Hope that clears up a couple things. By the way, thats ghz version intel style. Which the 939 AMDs are still more powerful than because of their 1000mhz fsb. 754s are still better though

Im deciding on what one to get

goodgameral
09-26-2005, 11:56 PM
if you want one thats 10 more than the zalman, get the cooler master hyper 6+
for some reason though, it soesn't search it right on newegg, so go the fans/heatsinks, and just chose cooler master as the brand.

any reason your getting a newegg sticker?

will ruin the looks of your elite you realise...

The sticker will be free.

And if I ever put that sticker on my computer ,which prolly wont happen , it will be on the inside.

oh said it cost $5 on there.

RedRoseWolF
09-27-2005, 08:21 PM
yeah...when you transfer something to the wishlist in newegg, the combos are all separated into single things....I have the newegg sticker that came with my turbine laying on the bottom of my case temporarily.....most likely won't stay there...

Oh yea. Any cheap suggestions?

I need an AGP 4X/8X.
And for bf2 as well.
I updated the first post with the specs needed.

goodgameral
09-27-2005, 11:36 PM
i say maybe nvidia 6600? those cost about $150 and can handle bf2 on at least medium settings. Or go for a 9800 pro. Thats what exitialis im pretty sure said... Plus they pretty cheap nowadays. More lilke $60.00

Basket_Case
09-27-2005, 11:56 PM
That is not on the list.

goodgameral
09-28-2005, 12:09 AM
just because thats what ea says is supported, but in reality you can go beter or do different ones. For instance, I have a 6600gt, and i could still play it.

But considering the prices of those cards and since you want to go with a card on the list, id say a 6600.

XFX 6600 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150086)

# 512K x 2 L2 Cache

Im not getting it or anything but that says 1600+=2.4

Im confused.

RedRoseWolF
09-29-2005, 08:55 PM
I believe that the 4600+ amd is equivalent to a 4.6Ghz intel....i'm not sure what the exact clock speeds mean for amd's though

goodgameral
09-29-2005, 09:00 PM
Im not sure whos clock speeds are true, but AMD claims that Intel does not use actual correct speeds. Hence why AMD stopped going fully by clock speed and went to 3xxx+ in the names.

don't get anything from thermaltake; as i hear, they're ripoffs of Thermalright. besides, i've dealt with exactly one Tt product and that's all i need to know that they are kinda shoddy; i bought the massive cooling tower. it's essentially 5 lbs. of solid copper. yeah... $55 wasted.

stick with thermalright or zalman; if anybody can add any other reputable cooling supply mfgers to the list, let me know. (arctic cooling too, i believe).

yes; cooler master is also a good brand for your cooling needs.

like i said, if anyone can make a list of reputable brands that make cpu coolers & pc cooling supplies, post them here. or maybe i'll start a new thread.... hmm..... :)

cooler master hypre 6+ is good
