Ok, I'm moving the LCD Meter to mount inside my case, I am modifying the extra 2 drive cover mounts to hold the LCD and USB connections. I need ideas on what to do with the hole that will be left when I get rid of the top meter on the Elite. I am going to cut one big hole from the 4 small ones that are there. They measure the following:
Width (standard, metric)
153 mm
6 1/16th inch
Heigth:
156 mm
6 1/8th inch
I cannot put a fan there, because I cannot find a 15cm fan. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks,

Well, you could stick a plasma globe in there..lol

Or cover it with a custom made fan grill with some sort of lighting below it.

hmm, find someone with a spare guardion eye thingy and mod it into the hole with a custom grill or something over it
if your going to do that thewn try putting a piece of laminating stuff between the lighting and the fan grill because it diffuses the light instead of bright LEDs

Here is what I'm looking to do. I am going to buy a window kit, that is 12x12 in, and cut it down to a 6in x 12 in window. Comes with 1 120 mm blowhole. Going to mount up top. Let me know what ya think of this.
Thanks,

I've seen alot of windows being put on top of cases and I think it looks awesome. Just cut out the whole top and put a window up there.

well if u want to go to the extreme then i rekon that cutting open the whole top and the top of your psu so you can see in it would look amazing.

Wy don't you try to fin some pic related with the front bazel and cut it with a dremel then stick some plexy under the cut and theyr you are...a flashy inside look from the top :D

well, i really think u should do as the masters above here says.. cut off the top, put in a plexy, make it nice, tidy, and shiny.. then u got it.. I've seen many cases here home with open at the top, even someone that cut out the top with a lazer.. anyone wanna c the link to the forum? it is norwegian, but u guys could always look at the pictures, and do the same..

Ok, I am starting the Mod of the case. Part 1 of 5 is complete, and that's painting the front "armor" peice. Paint is darker in real life, flash makes it a little lighter. Here is the pic:

**UPDATE**
Side Paint Done:
http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/8497/case16in.th.jpg (http://img360.imageshack.us/my.php?image=case16in.jpg)
Believe it or not, the paint WAS done by me (kinda funny, can't paint n e thing else) and was done with 2 cans of spray paint. If you want details on how to do it (takes about 15-20min to paint) let me know. The pain part is putting the clear coat on. I put 5 layers on that part. 2 on the side. (my sister SCREWED up part, look bottom, middle (may not be able to see it) THANKS SIS!).
Let me know if you want to know..

PS: NO, I have NOT changed fans....yet.....I am trying to see if I can get NZXT to sell me another fan with the "N" Grille so when I put the window kit up top...you get the idea. Any sugguestions would be greatly apprecialted.
Thanks

Yes, and no, on the USB. Im still trying to decide if I want to put that in another CD slot, or if when I put my top window kit in if I should cut a hole in that. I'm currently leaning twords the CD drive thing, as I am not very good at cutting plexiglass. I can cut the Plastic no problem, so that's the direction I think I'm heading.
Oh, BTW, Yes, I am new at this. Believe it or not, this is my FIRST case mod. BUT, this is about 3 months of planning and designing. So, this has been well thought out.
Thanks,
Austin_of_06
PS: Tell me what you think would look cooler, USB on front above LCD, or USB through window.

Ok, I think I have decided to go with putting USB in window kit. Still haven't figured out EXACTLY how I'm gonna do it, but it looks sumthing like this:
draw out the rectangle where USB will go.
Use a drill to punch the 4 corners out.
Use utility knife to cut a little out at a time (scratch, and break meathod)
Super-glue USB onto plexiglass window kit
Mount Plexiglass Window kit on top
If you have any sugguestions on how this could be any easier, I am open to any sugguestions. As I said earlier, I am not real sure how to cut plexiglass very well, so this is a new thing for me. But I am going with this b/c I think it would look cooler.

Got the window kit in today, unfortinuatley I cannot mount the USB in the window due to lack of room, I had a 120mm fan hole drilled, and the window is only 135mm across, so needless to say, its gonna be a tight fit.
So, USB goes in a CD-tray slot.

OK, what I've been waiting for for a while now.
Here are the final 2 images to this extreme mod:
Front USB Moved:
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/9641/front0zj.th.jpg (http://img370.imageshack.us/my.php?image=front0zj.jpg)
Top Window Installed:
http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/8558/top2eo.th.jpg (http://img370.imageshack.us/my.php?image=top2eo.jpg)
The top window is offset due to the holes already in the top of the case, and the window kit came to me pre-cut, so I had no chance to put it centered.
I do not sugguest trying this, as this is a VERY diffucult mod, but if you want some help, or instructions, let me know, I'll be glad to send them to ya.
Thanks,
Austin_of_06
