thats what it sounds like to me...
What power supply are you using and what are you running on it?

In order to check to see if it's really the power, try to unplug devices one by one ( eventually leaving only your cpu, vid, mobo, 1 harddrive ) to test. Thanks!

it sounds like something is wrong with the power supply, though make sure everything is wired right

thanx for the help i checked the wireing and everything sems to be fine there except there are three wires that don't plug in any where which i think is wierd.
the psu is the one that came with my elite 400watt migh be a defect though that is what my freind who builds computers on a day to day basis is thinking by description of the proble i might be able to get him to look at it before x-mas. i feel stupid just rambling on and on and typing whatever pops into my head its acually quite nice to never mind...

Hey joe, have you ensured that the cpu fan is connected to the mobo? what about the thermal compound on the cpu too much/too little? It sounds as though it could be heat related if it only starts for a short time, might be totally wrong but worth a mention i think

don't think it is heat because i got the elite and the temp reading is pretty low only at 23 degrees c
and i thought maby the fan isn't connected but i already checked that and it was fine
the thermal compound however didn't think about that mabey too much how do i tell if there is too much
