Moving Xbox Console Into PC Case...

Well I started off really wanting to build a PC with this case, but I don't really have any problems with my current PC and didn't feel need to buy another one... But I still wanted the experience of being able to build a PC, so I figured hey why not stick my Xbox in a PC case... And here I am now... I'll start off by listing what I'm going to be using for the project:

Well the good thing about this is that none of the parts are really Xbox specific except for the extension wires, PSU converter, and DVD drive, which can all be easily resold down the road... What I'm getting at is that if I ever decided I didn't want this anymore I could just take my Xbox out of the case and throw some PC parts in there

Wow, that is a ridiculous mod. The thing is, wont it make it more difficult to access the controller ports? I mean i assume thta the new controller ports are gonna be in one of the drive bays behind the door. Just curious.

Yes, the door will have to be open whenever the system is powered on, but I'd have to leave it open for the HD cooler to be effective anyway, so its not that big of a hassle

the first 2 controller ports will be in the first 3.5" bay along with a switch to switch between bioses and the second two controller ports in the second bay

Ok. It sounds cool. I don't think that i would ever do this, but i guess that I am just happy with having my computer be my computer and my gaming system be my gaming system. The fps always belongs on my pc and the puzzle game and rpg belong on my gaming systems. Well more power to you if you are gonna do this stuff.

I agree with you there, but the thing is the only FPS games I really play are UT(ghetto), CS/HL(ghetto), and BF1942(sometimes)... and the PC I have right now runs all those games just fine, so I don't plan on really upgrading for awhile... plus since my Xbox is modded, I could just load up linux on it if I really wanted too :thumbsup:

I'm going to be taking many many pictures of the project as I progress through it, cause I know its not going to be as easy as it sounds... I'll make sure I try and post many if not all of the pictures here as well as on xbox-scene.com because I am an active member there as well... now I just have to wait for newegg to get the black case back in stock...

well i just picked up my case at frys and im working on fitting the mobo right now, what i think im gonna do is make an adapter out of a piece of plexi glass... lets see how that works out

That is cool but it sucks that you have to have the door open when you are playing. Ever though of putting them where the USB and the audio imputs are? You can put one controller in each and then two in the 3 1/2 in. bay, might work.

I thought of that but I really wanted to keep everything consistent and it would just look a little odd having the controller ports scattered around everywhere, plus I plan on using the USB ports and hooking them up to my Xbox so I can use keyboards and mice and such.

Hmm... I don't know... I think the closed case would look better... You could always move the USB to the back.

you should have put the porst somewhere else, its kinda stupid that you always have to have the door open. put it at the bottom between the USB and the audio...

depending on the quality of the work(which looks pretty damn impressive), and if i could add in things like CCFLs and all.....I suppose I'd have to know how much all the parts cost and all that, but I'd pay enough so you would make a decent profit. I know a guy that would pay you just about anything you wanted, he loves this kinda stuff. I would pay more if the controller ports werent behind the door though, seems kinda like a waste to have it open anytime you wanna play. With the Xbox cables being as long as they are, couldnt you put em in the back of the case, or maybe mod the case so they were on the side or something?
